The mineral bath was the reason we booked, and it turned out to be such a special experience. It was clean and warm outside, with hardly any light pollution, so we could watch the stars and moon while soaking. In the morning, Ernest made us a filling breakfast, which was a great start to the day. Joshua tree National Park is about 30 minutes away, and we went hiking there. We were the only guests that night. Ernest called ahead to ask if we wanted a mineral bath and what temperature we preferred, which was really thoughtful. When we arrived, he welcomed us like family, showed us around, and shared some history about the house and the mineral spring. Our room was immaculate and cozy, with lovely handmade furniture and lots of little touches that made it comfortable. We loved our stay and will definitely come back to Ernest’s place when we’re in the area.

The room was warm and cozy, and had everything we needed, including robes and beach towels for the secluded hot tub. With Earnest booking only one room at a time because of Covid, the whole place felt like a private spa retreat. Breakfast was amazing too, with a huge bowl of fresh fruit and a mushroom omelette that could’ve come from a French cafe. Earnest was friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. We got a flat tire on the way and arrived close to midnight, but he stayed up, greeted us cheerfully, and showed us around before we went to bed. The next morning he helped us find a repair shop, suggested local trails, and let us check out late so we could hike before leaving. It was such a relaxing stay. This place really is a gem, and I can’t say enough good things about it!

The property is gorgeous, and you can tell a lot of meaning has gone into it. I loved the mineral hot tub and pool, and the room was really comfortable, especially the heated floors. I also enjoyed chatting with the host over breakfast. I’d love to return, either on my own or with family or friends.

We slept well in the comfy bed, and the shared shower was a little different but worked out fine. Ernest was a great host and made Hawaiian French toast with fruit for breakfast. The mineral hottub felt so relaxing in the warm water while the night air was a cool 43 degrees, with the stars and moon overhead. The place is farther out of town, though we didn’t mind the drive through the desert. I’d recommend staying here.

The mineral bath is fabulous, and the inn itself is lovely. Ernest is attentive, friendly, and very doting. Just know it really does feel like staying at your grandpa’s house. Some travelers might enjoy that, while others could find it off-putting.
