WorldMark Hunt - Stablewood Springs Resort

We stayed this past May and loved how secluded and cute the place was. The units were roomy and just right for our stay, and check-in was easy. Each night we saw wildlife from the back balcony, including foxes, deer, raccoons, and cats. People were kind, there were lots of daytime activities, and the pool was amazing. My only complaint was the light coming into the guest bedroom at night from the outdoor hallways.

My family of five had a lovely four-night getaway in the high hills of Ingram. It was quiet enough that at times it felt like we had the resort to ourselves, though the rec center, pool, and hot tub always had just the right number of other guests. You're close to your choice of places in Ingram or Kerrville. We all really enjoyed the prayer garden in Kerrville.

The condo was spacious, and we enjoyed the peaceful view from the balcony. It's a beautiful, secluded property in the Texas Hill Country. The drive into town takes a little while, but the scenery along the Guadeloupe River is lovely, and we saw several deer on the access road. The location made for a lovely stay, and checking out by text was easy. I didn't like that a staff member let themself into the room to ask if we'd forgotten anything. I was also steered by the activities "concierge" after check-in. They gave us useful local information, then said that because we booked through Hotels.com, we were "actually a VIP" and could get a free vacation package after a presentation the next day. None of that was mentioned on Hotels.com, and the supposed VIP status came with no other real value. Please stop using this sales line and disclose it in the listing.

The pool area is spectacular, with two pools, one for adults and one for children, plus a hot tub and beautiful Hill Country views. The location is convenient for Kerrville, Fredericksburg, and wine country. People in Texas are so friendly and especially respectful. Second-floor units are very quiet, feel private and secluded for a WorldMark property, and have outstanding views of the rolling green hills. The unit designs are great, too, with high ceilings and plenty of space. We've stayed here twice. It's a really outstanding property, but it has been sliding downhill. This could be one of the WOW properties in the system again if management tackles the issues below. It has five-star-plus potential. Good luck, management. I hope you get the message. The first-floor units are dark. The property is about 30 years old, and the trees and vegetation that have grown since then block what I imagine were outstanding views back in the 90s. Cut down and haul away what's in the way. According to the handyman, the HVAC units are more than 28 years old. The air conditioning works "sort of" and runs 24-7, but somehow the cold air doesn't get blown into the rooms. You can feel how cold it is at the vent, but there's no fan pushing it through the unit. With the A/C not working properly, it's hard to sleep. I know the system is ancient, but maybe think about fixing it. The property has hard water, so they could install a filtration system or replace the fixtures and dishwasher more often. They chose neither, and now the fixtures and dishwasher are wrecked. The dishwasher isn't just ugly, its rack adjustment feature is broken, so full-size plates won't fit without jamming a wad of paper towel into the rack to hold it where it needs to be. Texas is a bit buggy in general, but it's buggy in spades here. We kept the unit doors shut and locked, yet still had an annoying fly problem and lots of no-see-ums. You can't sit on the deck without a bug attack. It's much better on the second floor than the first, likely because of the overgrown vegetation at first-floor level. The shower pressure on the second floor is pathetic, totally inadequate. On the first floor it's lousy too, though not quite as bad. I'd put it at the very bottom of marginally adequate. Seems like an easy fix.
