Royal Motel

After a full day behind the wheel, all I wanted was Wi-Fi and a comfortable bed, and Royal Motel had both. The check-in was quick and handled by a friendly, polite person, no kiosk involved. He welcomed me and my shihtzu for the night, with a $20 fee for the little dog that felt totally fair. Simple and unpretentious, just right for travelers looking for a warm place to sleep and a working TV before getting back on the road.

One bed was decent, but the other was like a brick. The chair was broken, and the tub surround had multiple holes covered with rainbow duct tape. I get that the place is cheap, but those holes in the shower shouldn't be there.

We liked staying at this motel built in the 1960s. The owner was really nice, the room was clean, and the snowmobile trail was close by.

We were checked in quickly by an efficient manager, and the location on the edge of town was great. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. There was a fridge and microwave in the room, which was handy. The bathroom was the low point, with very weak water pressure. We also noticed black footprints near the door, though that didn't bother us since we're not clean freaks. One outlet beside the bed was loose in the wall and in poor shape. I had to bend the prongs on my CPAP cord to get power, and that outlet really needs fixing.
