DoubleTree by Hilton Irvine - Spectrum

Denise at the front desk made my first visit to Irvine feel unexpectedly familiar. She patiently handled all my questions at check-in, then helped me again the next night. Her service made me feel noticed and valued, and I made sure to get her name so I could thank her here. Gilbert at the restaurant also made the morning a pleasure. My breakfast burrito and juice were terrific, and he prepared the order with care before easing into a friendly chat about my trip. I didn't catch the Blend Café Market clerk's name, but they were helpful too. For a first multi-day business trip, this Doubletree worked really well. It was less expensive than places closer to my meetings, but still only a short drive away and felt much more upscale than a mid-range hotel. Irvine's layout made the daily drive a little tricky, though the hotel itself was easy to find, even at night. The lot seemed secure and well lit, luggage carts were plentiful, and staff were helpful at every hour. I liked the wide stairwells and the roomy, well-equipped gym, open around the clock with a room keycard. I'll stay here again when I'm back in Irvine.

The bartender Gilbert was a real gem, with top-notch service. I'd say he deserves a raise. The room was comfortable and really nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Had a great stay.

Noel Vasin made our engagement party feel like it mattered to her as much as it did to us. She was kind, patient, and so supportive throughout, and we felt in good hands at every step. Her expertise is clear, but it's the genuine care she brings that sets her apart. On the event day she coordinated everything so smoothly that I could relax and actually enjoy the celebration. As an Event Director, it's hard for me to let go of the details, but Noel anticipated what we needed, quietly handled things, and kept everything flowing without adding stress. From the start, she was professional and knowledgeable, while also making us feel safe and looked after. We're very grateful, and anyone who gets to work with Noel will be well cared for.

The rooms are dated, the furniture is falling apart, and the cleanliness was disgusting. The photos I managed to take are from the second room, which was only slightly better than the first. Staff apparently said every room below level 7 was in post-apocalypse condition. I wish I'd photographed the first one too. That first room smelled like cat piss. There wasn't even a bathroom countertop, and the odor kept me up all night, so I asked to move. I got congested and a massive headache within an hour, and felt sick again soon after entering the second room. No exaggeration. Service was just as bad. After packing everything, hauling it to the lobby for a new assignment, then carrying it all back upstairs, they questioned whether I'd already used my limit of two complimentary waters. At check-in they ask if you'll "require" daily cleaning, as if that's an added amenity and the do not disturb sign doesn't already exist. I've stayed at plenty of Hilton hotels, even in prime waterfront locations, and too many look like they've given up. I travel a lot and have finally learned my lesson: don't stay at a Hilton.
