The rooms are decent, and I especially liked how much space there was in the largest one. The housekeeping staff try hard. They may not speak much English, but if you point to what you need, they’ll help and bring fresh towels, sheets, or toilet paper. The front desk team during the day has also been sweet, attentive, and helpful when I needed support. I’ve had one bad experience with a night employee whose name I don’t remember, so I avoided the desk when he was working. Rewards are worth signing up for, too. I like being next to a gas station and close to Las Colinas, where you can find pretty much anything. I first stayed here about a year ago, and maintenance has been consistently on top of things, especially John. He helped me with my TV and other concerns during my stay. Tim either didn’t show up, didn’t seem to care, or passed the issue to John. I hate to say it, but John deserves a raise for how hard he works. Hope this helps.
I booked this hotel weeks ahead for an anniversary trip, but the Texas winter storm made the drive dangerous. I work at a resort, so I understand that refunds can be difficult. I only wanted to move my arrival and departure dates, and I even said I’d pay a fee. After two days of calls, I finally reached the manager. I’d been told he was always “out,” and one employee said he’d read my message, shrugged, and ignored it. The manager said I couldn’t get a refund or change the dates. When I asked if he’d prefer that I risk my life to stay there, he said there was nothing they could do. I know that isn’t always true: at my hotel we reschedule guests at no cost in situations like this. When I mentioned my guest relations experience, he asked, “y’all let people make changes on prepaid reservations? I don’t think that’s right.” I found it immoral to put money ahead of guests’ safety. Please stay somewhere else; many hotels would try to find a safe solution. I also emailed the owner several times and got no response. I suspect the manager may have given me a false email address. **Update (2/18):** Nobody contacted me to make things right. I emailed the corporate address and heard nothing back either. It’s been a while, and it seems they’re only interested in replying to reviews to look caring online. There are plenty of other places nearby, so don’t pick one that doesn’t value its guests.
The shuttle was the reason I picked this place for a trip to visit family, but I couldn’t rely on it at all. Before leaving, I checked with two different front desk employees, one at check-in and one at checkout. Both said the shuttle only went to DFW, not Love Field, but that it could pick me up at DFW when I returned if I called. I had to Uber to the airport, but figured they’d help me get back to my car, which I’d paid to park there. At DFW’s shuttle pickup area, I called and was told 40 minutes. An hour later they said 10 minutes, and 20 minutes after that, still 10 minutes. I asked the employee to call the shuttle and find out what was happening so I could make other arrangements. He refused. I checked Uber, which was a little over $20 then, but by the time I called again after another 20 minutes, it was over $40. After waiting 90 minutes in the cold, I finally tipped another hotel’s shuttle driver to take me to my hotel. I just wanted to start my three-hour drive home and didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes for an Uber. The hotel was awful in other ways too. There were sketchy people around the building, dust clumps on the curtains big enough to look like cats, and I couldn’t bring myself to get in the shower without a hazmat suit. I slept with the lights on because I was afraid to turn them off. I’m wildly disappointed. Red roof inn won’t get any more of my money. I’d choose a wayside over this place. It isn’t worth the cost, and you can’t count on its shuttle.
We were in the second of the hotel’s two buildings, in a small but clean room with a comfortable bed. The AC worked well, and there were no bugs. It also didn’t have the cigarette or mildew smell I’d read about in other reviews. The staff were nice and helpful, and the area was quiet. The toilet made a noise when flushed, but that was minor. I had a great stay.
The first room smelled so strongly of mold that I could barely breathe for five minutes. The second room was worse: it was stinky and hadn’t been cleaned, and the blankets were dirty. I cancelled the booking, but they refunded only two of the three nights, even though I had extra protection. I didn’t stay for even five minutes, and when I called, they were very rude.
