We only stayed one night while passing through the Keys, and I think it would’ve been a good place to stay longer and enjoy the kayaks, bikes, snorkeling and fishing gear, and shuffleboard. Since check-in is at 3 and check-out at 11, there’s not much time to use the equipment on a one-night stay. It all has to be returned by 5 pm each day, and I feel the amenity fee should only apply to guests staying multiple nights. We did take two kayaks out after checking in, but only got about an hour on the water. The boat ramp is very slippery, and it was too dark to play shuffleboard before dinner. The location is great, right on the water and close to plenty of places to eat. We walked about 15 minutes to an Italian restaurant for dinner, using the path on the west side of the road so we didn’t have to worry about traffic. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a well-equipped kitchenette. The curtains didn’t reach all the way to the floor, so the security lights shone in all night. I travel with an eye mask, so it wasn’t a problem. There are lounge chairs by the water, and the jetty was a nice spot to watch the sunset.

Bringing our boat was easy and convenient, which made it simple to get around Islamorada. The young man at the front desk was incredibly flexible and helpful with trailer parking and slip assignments, and he pointed us to a nearby free boat ramp. Whenever we had a question, he either knew the answer or went out of his way to find it. It was the best experience we could’ve had bringing a boat down. We stayed at La Jolla a couple of weeks ago and were impressed by the service and accommodations. Our room was beautiful, with almost a full kitchen and a nice private patio overlooking the water. We arrived about an hour before check-in, and they let us in without hesitation. The shared outdoor areas were lovely and uncrowded. The staff were kind and accommodating, and we hope to return with a bigger group, maybe when it’s warm enough to use the pool.

John at the front desk was warm, welcoming, and really helpful. He did a great job. The rooms and grounds were clean and beautiful, and the beach felt cozy, especially at night with the cafe lights. I sat on the chair swing overlooking the water while drinking my coffee. Just lovely. I’ll definitely be back!

The waterfront side of the resort was lovely, and we enjoyed walking over to Lorelei. Fishing is catch-and-release, and there are boat slips, though nowhere to park a trailer. Our room was close to Hwy 1, so the traffic was loud, and the curtains didn’t block enough light. Bring an eye mask if you need a dark room to sleep. The bigger issue was the kayak rental. The resort desk somehow handed my wife’s driver’s license to another guest. They got it back a couple of hours later, but she was panicking because we were leaving the next day. Be careful about handing over your ID to rent equipment there. I wouldn’t do it again.

The room had a little kitchenette with a stove, dishes, pots and pans, a toaster, microwave, and fridge, which made it easy to cook. We also made use of the bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards, and enjoyed the private beach. It’s a peaceful, clean, lovely property tucked away from the main highway. We found La Jolla while searching for a place to stay in Islamorada. After talking with John on the phone, we felt sure it was the right choice. He was warm and welcoming from that first call, and the crew made us feel at home. We arrived without knowing quite what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. Thanks to everyone there, especially John, for making our stay so nice.
