Matecumbe Resort

A nice, clean little getaway in a great location. The staff were very kind, and even the timeshare regulars kept things quiet. We didn’t use the pool since we’re not pool people. My one small wish is that there were somewhere to buy laundry detergent for the washing machine. Otherwise, it was great.

There was plenty to do around the property: kayaks and bikes are free to use, and there’s a heated pool, private beach, chairs, picnic table, hammocks, cornhole, ping pong, shuffleboard, and a park. There’s also a boat docking area and covered parking at no charge. Great location and views, and we had no issues. A great place to stay.

The bed was extremely hard, and the linens and furnishings felt very outdated. The couch was acceptable, at least. I also felt exposed because the curtains facing the courtyard were see-through. The door lock only secured the lower lock, not the deadbolt, which added to my security concerns. The bathroom made the stay uncomfortable and frustrating: the shower was extremely small, and my leg touched the wall when I sat on the toilet. It looked as though the bathroom might have been altered without proper permits or code compliance, with only about three inches between the toilet and wall. I’m asking them to consider a refund.

The room was smaller than a one-bedroom apartment, and we had to climb a flight of stairs to reach it. The Expedia listing described it as a deluxe room, but that wasn’t what we expected, and it didn’t mention the stairs. I personally wouldn’t stay at this property again.
