We’ve stayed at the Trouthunter Lodge 5-6 times over the years and used their fly fishing guides, but this past year the customer service, fishing trips, and guide booking at the fly shop were terrible. I booked 2 boats 9 months ahead and was assured we’d be prioritized for the specific river section we requested, including the day before the trip. But when we arrived at the shop that morning, another guide had taken that section and we were shut out, even though only a few permits were available for it. I don’t find the Trouthunter fly fishing guides and managers reliable. After the trip, I spoke with the manager 3 times. Each time he said they’d try to fix things, then ghosted me with no follow-up. I was told the owner would call, but got no response. We’ve spent a lot of money over the years at their lodge, restaurant, and with their guides. We’ll never return.

The servers who usually work there during the day were around, and they were really sweet and welcoming. We only saw the dining area, though I think there are other parts of the building and I don't know what they're used for. I was there after hours for a Fire Fighter convention event where they announced awards, including things like most fire calls taken. It also served as a tribute to their chief, who had recently passed away. The restaurant is locally owned, cute, and bigger inside than it looks, with a relaxed feel. I can't say what it's like when open to the public, but it seems like a cozy spot to eat and spend time with your group. If I come back in a regular setting, I'll update this.

We went for wild west winterfest and had a great time. The building is cute, everyone was so nice, and the live band was pretty good. The fireworks were great too. :)

The staff felt standoffish and a little snooty, and I left feeling unwelcome. That was a letdown, since I usually enjoy fly shops, where people tend to be down-to-earth and helpful, even when I've stopped in alone to pick something up for my husband. I'm married to an avid fly fisherman, so I was looking forward to visiting this shop with him. Maybe we caught them on an off day, because the shop itself has a lot of potential, but the way we were treated makes me not want to return.

The guides are excellent, with incredible knowledge of the local area. There's a huge selection in the fly shop, and experienced anglers there to help. Add in a quality restaurant and nice lodging, all right by the river, and it's a great combination of businesses. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
