Inn On Columbia

The traffic was bad because of nearby road detours, and parking could be tedious, though there are often two private spots and street parking is available. The area is hilly, but so is all of Ithaca, and the views aren’t on the flats. We stayed in the Gazebo for an extended weekend and loved how private it was, with its own hot tub and fireplace in a magnificent space designed by architect Kenn. We started calling it “The Love Shack.” Madeline and Kenn were wonderful hosts and mapped out specific local recommendations for us. Madeline is a chef, and her breakfasts, made with fresh everything, were exquisite and second to none. The Gazebo came with tangerines, chocolate, cold drinks, and sparkling welcome wine. The common area had a great vibe, interesting books, and complimentary hot drinks. If you’re lucky, Olive, Milton, or Ollie, friendly dogs from nearby, may greet you. Recommend, recommend, recommend.

Madeline and Kenn know the neighborhood well, and Madeline’s suggestions were all helpful and enjoyable. The Cornell Botanical Gardens are stunning, and we really loved Ithaca. We were lucky to stay in the sweet, secluded Gazebo. During the recent heat wave, the marble tile in the spa bath felt wonderfully cool. Breakfast was cooked to a very high standard. I’m inspired to try goat cheese in my scrambled eggs, though I doubt mine will be as amazing. Olive, a very lovable dog, brought so much love to our mornings on the patio. Inn On Columbia is a gorgeous property with beautiful finishes. Madeline and Kenn are wonderful role models, and we’re grateful to have met them. Their work ethic inspires others to do more.

The room was beautiful and unique, and everything we wanted to see in town was within walking distance. The hosts were so kind, and the location was perfect. I wish I’d stayed an extra day. Highly recommend.

I’ll be back. The hosts were terrific, and the room was spacious with a well-equipped kitchen. The bed was incredibly comfortable, everything was clean, and it was so much nicer than a usual hotel room. Just a wonderful experience.
