Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Corpus Christi-Portland by IHG

Everyone at the front desk was kind, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one. The hotel is convenient for Municipal Park baseball, but it needs some love. My key had to be redone at the desk four times. The tub was rusted out, the floor tiles gave way when stepped on, and plywood covered a number of the hotel’s windows. Just not great. If I come back, I’ll try another nearby hotel.

The front desk staff were extremely friendly, but housekeeping seemed to have done a subpar job. We found shards of glass in the carpet, rust in the bathtub, and a refrigerator that nearly toppled over when we opened its door.

The room wasn’t very clean. There was a big, nasty stain in the bathroom tub, and the AC leaked water onto the floor and smelled awful.

The hotel was spotless, and the room was too. It was quiet and lovely at night and in the early morning, perfect for relaxing. The pool was too windy for me to try, and I wish there’d been a TV guide so I didn’t have to keep flipping through channels. We were in town overnight on a trip to Corpus and Port Aransas. I’d read this was a safe area and a better place to stay before driving to the places you want to visit. From arrival to departure, I was completely satisfied with the service. We got there hours before check-in, and a wonderful person at the front desk checked whether our room was ready and let me in early to put down my bags. The parking lot felt safe and quiet, and no one seemed to have touched my vehicle overnight. Breakfast was included, and they have a machine that makes pancakes in a minute flat. I was sad to leave, but I’ll definitely stay here again when we drive over in a few months.
