After a long day with family for a funeral, we were told several things about when someone would come check the room and move us, and none of it came through. We couldn't settle in. They said maintenance was cleaning up a spill, but the lobby had actually flooded. After three calls downstairs, someone finally came. They asked if I wanted them to look at the room first; I said yes. I trusted that it was fine, but the TV still wasn't right, and by then we were exhausted. At 3 a.m. the power went out, and with only one generator, it didn't come back until almost 11 a.m. There was no water. The staff didn't seem to care, even after I walked down six flights of stairs to get some kind of information. There are no microwaves in the rooms. I called to ask where one was and was told the ice machine room, but there wasn't one there. When I called back, the front desk couldn't give me clear directions, mentioning the penthouse floor or lobby. The first room also had a broken TV and fridge. I'll never stay here again. We visit family in town often and have stayed at many properties, but this one is on my never-again list.

Nia and Kimberly made a strong first impression with their professional, warm, attentive service. They were the highlight of our stay, and most of the staff we met were kind and accommodating. The lobby and downstairs restrooms were clean and fresh-smelling, even though the property looks somewhat dated. I initially wondered why the ratings were low, but the rest of the experience explained it. On the elevator ride, I noticed trash on the window ledges. In room 214, there were large carpet stains, debris in the entryway corners, sticky residue on the back of the door, and visible dirt on the phone, around the desk lamp switches, and along the baseboards. The shower had what looked like black mold around its bottom edges, and a piece of plastic hanging from the shower door also seemed to have mold on it. The carpet to the ballroom where our church services were held was dirty too. Service slipped on the second day. An older man at the front desk, who I was told was the manager, came across as dismissive and disengaged. A ballroom staff member also seemed inconvenienced when we asked for help. As a Hilton Honors member, I was disappointed by the mixed stay. The place has potential, but needs updates, much better attention to cleanliness, and stronger management oversight so the experience matches the hospitality some staff already provide.

The dining options nearby are limited, with a lot of places listed as temporarily closed. For a good dinner, you really have to go north a couple of exits to Madison. Herrington's staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food there was great. Drago's next door, which is owned by the hotel, was less impressive: the food was okay, but the service was pretty bad. Brent and Jasmine at the bar were great, though they close too early at 9 p.m. The room I was first given was dirty, with no vacuuming or mopping, hair on the floor and vanity, and a fingernail on the carpet under the desk. The TV had a blue tint, the shower leaked and had mold, and the shower floor looked filthy. It seemed like the bed had been made and the sheets hopefully changed, but little else. Others in our group had similar issues, so I didn't mention it at first because I didn't want to move and end up in the same condition. Nia and Katrina at the front desk were fantastic throughout. Nia asked several times about any problems, and when I finally told her, she insisted on moving me. The new room was great, with no issues. I wish I'd spoken up sooner, and shouldn't have been so stubborn. The rooms are still dated, but I was much more comfortable in the new one. Nia and Katrina deserve five stars; housekeeping is the reason I'd give the service four.

I was in town for a quick work thing, and the Hilton Jackson was rough. The room smelled of old smoke and funk, the couch was stained and nasty, there was dust everywhere, and I found hair in the shower. The bed looked okay, but the sheets felt grimy. When I mentioned it at the front desk, they just shrugged. The pool looked green too. For a Hilton, this place is embarrassing. Never again.

The room was huge, and it was an upgraded corner suite with two bathrooms and a king bedroom. But the furniture was so worn and stained I couldn't even sit on it, and the dresser doors wouldn't close. Someone's dog had chewed the doors. It smelled like mold and perfume, with what seemed like lots of air freshener trying to cover up an outdated, poorly kept hotel. The smell followed us from the entrance through the elevators and into the room. This is not a four-star hotel, and I'm thinking of sleeping in my car. The hotel's potential is amazing, but it needs a complete gut and overhaul. I can't believe Hilton lets its name be on this place. We were considering staying another night in Jackson, but after seeing it, I can't wait to check out.
