Best Western Jacksonville Inn

The room had a few problems: the TV wouldn’t get loud enough to hear, the bathroom lighting was terrible, and the shower barely worked. The door wasn’t square, leaving a gap at the top so hallway noise carried both ways. I’d arranged a 1 p.m. late checkout, but the fire alarm went off at 9:30 in the morning. I think maintenance may have accidentally set it off, and all I wanted was to sleep in. At least I wasn’t charged for the extra half hour past the usual 11 a.m. checkout. The staff were great.

The room was clean, though the beds weren’t comfortable and our TV didn’t work. Sue and Dennis were great. Breakfast ending at 9 a.m. feels a bit early on a weekend.

The hot tub needs stronger jets, and I left with bed bug bites all over me. We were in room 212, and that mattress needs to be burned. I tried calling several times to tell them, but kept being left on hold for over five minutes. The rooms look clean, but check the beds carefully. We’re usually good about that and forgot this time. Service was mostly do it yourself, so for an extra blanket or pillow, you had to go get it yourself. Breakfast was very cold and they ran out of food. We went down at 7:30 and the bacon was already gone, even though they advertise a full breakfast from 6-9. Other than those two big issues, it was fine. I’ll be itching for the next week or so. 🤦‍♀️ I wish I could post pictures.

For the money, this is the best hotel value we’ve had in a long time. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful. The pillows are small and square, but we bring our own anyway, so that wasn’t an issue. Everything was perfect for us.
