HI Monterey - Hostel

It was easy to walk into downtown Monterey from here, and the lobby had a nice common area with room to cook. I chose a private room since it wasn't much more than booking bunks for two. Both the room and bathroom were perfectly clean, and the staff were super nice. A lot of care clearly went into making this hostel what it is. Great stay.

We booked a room at the Monterey Hostel for four adults. It was clean and nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The shared kitchen and sitting area felt welcoming and had lots of equipment. I'd stay here again.

The staff were friendly and great to deal with, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I stayed over Christmas, close to the aquarium and Cannery Row, and the whole place had a great vibe. A major storm took out power around town on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the team kept everyone's spirits up and put out a huge holiday food platter. Easily the best hostel or hotel stay I've had. Highly recommend.

This is where I stay whenever I'm in Monterey Bay for freediving, and I know some scuba divers stay here too. It's an easy walk to the beach and shops downtown. The hostel has a really artsy feel, a wide-open kitchen, and plenty of parking. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. I checked in late, after 7pm during winter hours. They responded quickly by text with my door code and checked that I was okay for the night. The staff member texting from the Monterey Hostel phoneline was heading home, but waited until I got in with the code. They really go out of their way for guests.
