You can walk across the street to the Del Monte center for shopping and plenty of places to eat, and parking is easy. It's also just a few minutes by car to Carmel, the aquarium, and tide pooling in new Monterey and Pacific Grove. Munras Boulevard gets noisy in the morning, but the Aura Inn's new windows block the road sound well. I visit Monterey every month to see my dad at his senior facility and have tried several of the similar motels along Munras, built before the highway bypass. So far, Aura Inn is the nicest I've stayed in. The room and bathroom have cosmetic updates, including new flooring, a mirror, and countertops. It was very clean, the bed and bedding were nice, and there was a frig, microwave, kurig, and in-room safe. We'll stay again for the moderate price and these reasons.

We had to cancel our stay at Aura because of a last-minute emergency, even though we'd already paid and the booking was nonrefundable. The staff worked with Booking.com to return the full room cost without fees. That was a very kind gesture and helped us recover the money.

The bathrooms had been updated, and the rooms were cozy, neat, and clean. It was a pretty good stay. I'd come back if they keep the property in this condition.

Recently remodeled rooms, clean and comfortable beds, and friendly staff. It's not far from downtown, either. For the price, this is a great hotel.

The bathroom made the stay frustrating, and I won't return. The shower pressure was among the worst I've ever had, so rinsing off shampoo or soap took three times longer. They did some remodeling but kept the old, short shower heads. I'm only 5'7" and the water hit about chest height. Raising the shower head another foot would help a lot. The sink was clogging too. The room itself was pretty clean, as advertised.
