Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Camp Lejeune/Jacksonville

My previous business trip here, three months ago, was impeccable. I came with two other women, stayed over the weekend, and had no problems; everyone was helpful. This visit was a big letdown. The front desk gentleman was disrespectful and unprofessional. The night before, I’d been told there would be a check-in fee, but when I arrived around noon and asked, the clerk smiled and said, “No ma’am, we got you,” which left me confused. The room wasn’t acceptable: the refrigerator was off and smelled, the remote was tucked inside the nightstand, and the blanket on the king bed had what looked like blood or feces on it. There was hair on the toilet, and the area behind the bathroom door was filthy, with hair and rolled-up tissues. Breakfast was disappointing too. The eggs were hard and overcooked, the sausage looked burnt, and most of the food seemed old. Waffles were the only decent choice. I’m very disappointed after my last stay and probably won’t return. The woman mopping the floors was kind and pleasant, though.

We stayed for more than a week, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasantly scented the whole time. Housekeeping went above and beyond, bringing fresh towels promptly whenever we needed them. Breakfast was hot, offered plenty of choices, and the area was kept very clean. We arrived at 2:30 a.m. after a long drive, and the front desk associate got us checked in efficiently and courteously. There was a small bed issue in the first room, but the team moved us the next morning.

I felt safe staying here on my own during my five-day reservation while my boyfriend was on base. The hotel was affordable and extremely clean, and the head housekeeper personally kept my room tidy, helped with our needs, and shared fun, useful information about the area. Staff were usually smiling and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Breakfast was decent, though I wish there were more choices, and the woman running the room was very sweet. One front desk person seemed annoyed when I needed help after getting locked out, but someone else later was kind and ready to assist. I’ll return whenever I’m in Jacksonville NC.

Breakfast was really good, and the woman serving it was so sweet. The front desk ladies were nice too. Our clean room had a little window seat for the kids, and I could keep an eye on the car from there. I would’ve stayed one more night if there had been an indoor pool.
