The one bright spot was the kind man at checkout. He was overwhelmed but handled things well. The hotel is right off the highway and near Sephora, Foxtail Coffee, and lots of restaurants. Those positives couldn't make up for how bad the rest was. I travel on a budget and have stayed in plenty of sketchy places without writing reviews, but this was off the charts. If every other hotel were full like they were during my stay, I'd sleep in my car before returning here. I booked online but got no confirmation email. When I called, they said they had no booking under my name and couldn't hold a room by phone. The man barely spoke above a whisper, didn't apologize, and couldn't find it even with my reservation number. We were an hour away, it was a holiday, and rooms were filling fast. The desk said we had to walk in to reserve, so we did, since nothing else was available within an hour. Then my reservation popped right up. It was a headache. The place was full of all sorts of people, including hookers, women barely dressed, and loud partygoers, with weed smell everywhere. Maybe some of that was the holiday, but some seemed normal for the place. The back exterior doors weren't locked. I wouldn't feel safe there alone or unarmed. Our room was nasty: boogers on the sheets, no blankets, one pillow per bed, used condoms under the mattress, holey towels, trash under the beds, peeling chairs, and stained lampshades. Cigarette and weed smells were so strong I couldn't sleep, even though I can sleep next to dogs or at stinky campsites. We were traveling with a disabled person who had to sleep in a bed, otherwise I'd have chosen the car. We stopped around 1 am for a night before another 12 hours of driving, and were quiet. Starting at 7:30 am, a loud, rude housekeeper knocked several times to ask when we were checking out, though checkout wasn't until 11. As we loaded the car, another housekeeper yelled at each of us separately and asked when we were leaving. On top of all that, I wouldn't expect safety or even a room without trash for $100 a night, but there was trash everywhere.

The Comedy Zone was a fun extra, right on site, and I went to a show during my stay. The staff around the property were friendly and helpful, and it was easy traveling with my dog since the hotel accepts pets. My room was comfortable, clean, and seemed updated and well maintained. I'd seen mixed reviews before booking, but my room didn't reflect them. Check-in was quick after a long drive. I added the breakfast buffet and was glad I did, there were more options than I expected, it was fresh and well stocked. A solid stay, and I'd come back.

The staff were kind across the board, including the bar staff and cleaner, and the front desk employee helped us get another room right away. The linens were clean, the bed was comfortable enough, and there was a mini fridge, microwave, and TV. None of that made the conditions okay, though. The first room was so moldy that breathing was difficult. The smell was awful, and then we saw the AC. There was mold on the bathroom walls too, with grime all around. The second room was somewhat better and had no visible mold, but still smelled musty. I had to sleep in a KN-95 mask to breathe. Its handle lock didn't work, and the deadbolt was barely attached. I don't blame the cleaners, who seemed to be doing their best. It feels like years of mold and grime have built up and would take a very serious deep clean to remove. I'm used to basic hotels and don't expect luxury at the Ramada, but a disgusting room is a different matter. Nothing balanced out the smell and condition.

The only thing this dump has going for it is easy access to I-95 and I-10. We found our scan keys deactivated every single evening after returning from Daytona Beach. It was hard to find anyone who could fix the problem. On Sunday the 16th, after coming back exhausted from the Daytona 500, we were locked out yet again. My nephew, a deputy sheriff in Texas, went to the lobby and tore into the people in charge about their poor understanding and customer service. They won't forget it. When our group arrived Friday night on the 13th, staff said our reservations didn't exist, although we'd made them back in August of 2025. The desk clerk eventually sorted it out, and we headed to our room. The room next door had its curtains open, showing a total wreck: overturned furniture, an AC unit pulled from the wall, garbage, 40 oz Old English bottles, and syringes scattered around. It looked like an adult film production had gone badly wrong. Our own room had an incredibly sticky floor, a TV and radio that didn't work, peeling paint from floor to ceiling, a patched-up shower area, and beds harder than a park bench. There's nothing redeeming about it. The place should be inspected by the Health Department, Jacksonville FD for code violations, and Jacksonville PD because it seems to have drug activity and other shady goings-on. My rating is lower than a snake's belly after an 18-wheeler runs it over.

We didn't finish our stay and gave up one night's charge because we felt neither safe nor valued. The guests argued loudly through the night, yelling profanities and kicking room doors. The rooms were badly dated, and the carpet was filthy. There were no washcloths, the AC fan didn't work, and TV choices were very limited. The outside areas weren't any better: side entrance trash bins were overflowing, dirty towels sat outside rooms, and dirty diapers and garbage were left in parking spaces. A very disappointing stay. Don't come here.
