I've been between work contracts and staying at Extended Stays while I look for work, including in Altamonte, Kissimmee, Bradenton, and Temple Terrace. They've been far from perfect and could use newer appliances and fresh paint, but I've appreciated having a roof, a bed, and a kitchenette so I don't have to eat out all the time. When I arrived at this Jacksonville Extended Stay, I didn't think much of the grounds or the location, or that the attendant was missing. I waited over 12 minutes to check in and was about to leave and come back later when a police officer pulled up. She came inside and asked if I'd been waiting long. I told her I wasn't sure where the attendant was. Curious about her presence, I asked what was going on and whether I should keep my reservation. Her expression changed from a smile to caution. She asked if I was from there, then said they were constantly called for homeless people, drugs, vagrants, car break-ins, and stolen items, and that needles could be found everywhere. She said she wouldn't stay there if she were me. I thanked her politely and immediately canceled. I'm sharing this so the public knows what I was told.

Kay and Loretta at the front desk are the nicest hotel staff I've ever met, and the housekeeper is a sweetheart. Everyone there is just the best. The rooms are a bit older, but the price is so good and I'm mostly there to sleep, so it doesn't bother me. Thanks for a great two months while my wife and I get settled in jax!

Everyone here is friendly and knows what they're doing. Kay, the GM, is a terrific leader who sets the example, and she'll do anything for you, big or small. Things were moving around before she arrived, but she quickly turned things around and keeps making this place better.

My family checked out as soon as we could, after booking just one night, thank God. The room was dirty and unsafe. Roaches were crawling around, and several nails stuck out of the wall near the floor. My son got a scratch on his face from one. It could easily have been much worse, and this room shouldn't be rented, especially to families with kids. Check-in was awful too. We'd booked for three guests and one child in a studio advertised with a pullout sofa. The desk employee called our choice "insane" after looking at the reservation, and was aggressively rude instead of helping. Then we were charged a surprise $100 deposit that hadn't appeared in the booking or payment confirmation. It felt like a hidden fee. This was the worst hotel stay my family has ever had. We were insulted by staff, charged an undisclosed fee, and left in an infested room with a hazard that hurt my son. It was a failure to provide a safe, habitable place, and I hope this review helps another family avoid the same nightmare.

I've been here almost two months, and this is my first time staying in an extended stay hotel. Kay the manager, Kendall at the front office, and Robert from maintenance are all wonderful. I also wrote a review before about Megan. These people make the place feel like a home away from home, and I want the company to know how much they contribute. Keep it up 🙂 from Kimberly in 311
