For an affordable place to sleep without a lot of extras, this was a practical choice. My room was basic but clean, with a comfortable bed, TV, small bathroom, and good air conditioning, which I appreciated in the Florida heat. Wi-Fi was fine for email and browsing, and the motel was fairly quiet at night. I felt reasonably safe. The location at 8285 Philips Hwy is handy if you’re driving. It’s just off the main road, near restaurants, gas stations, and shopping, and getting around Jacksonville was easy. Parking was simple, with a spot near my room. Check-in was quick, and the front desk staff were polite. It’s no-frills and not fancy, but it had what I needed for a short stay.

After driving about 18 hours from Ohio to Florida, we arrived exhausted at 3 a.m. Money was tight, and we just needed somewhere safe to sleep for a few hours. Instead, the room was filthy and uncomfortable. There were roaches, sticky floors that turned our socks black, walls that looked dirty and moldy, and bedding with pubic hair that didn’t look clean enough to use. We asked for another room, but found roaches in the bed, mold on the walls and ceiling, and dirty bedding and towels there too. The wall had a hole, things around the room were rusting, the door was falling apart, and the AC was coming out of the wall, barely worked, and blew mold. We stripped off the bedding except for the comforter protector, which was full of hair and dirt like it hadn’t been washed. We didn’t sleep at all. I can’t believe I stayed, but I was so tired I didn’t know what else to do. It was awful to spend money we couldn’t spare and still not feel safe sleeping. After checkout, I asked management to call me back and never heard anything. No follow-up or apology. I know a budget motel isn’t a luxury hotel, but there should still be a basic standard for cleanliness and customer service, especially for exhausted travelers who need a safe place to rest. I want my money back.

We booked through Priceline on 06/01/2026 because the listing showed rooms with a fridge, microwave, shower curtain, and clean king bed. The bed wasn’t king sized, and we found a piece of black weave in it. My hair isn’t black. I’d hurt my foot and had been told by my doctor to ice it, so I brought an ice pack and chose a room with a fridge for that reason. After my man signed the check-in paperwork, we went in and found that the room didn’t match the listing and the lights didn’t work. The desk attendant agreed it didn’t match the ad, seemed confused that studio photos with fridges and microwaves were used for motel rooms that, she said, usually have nothing, then shrugged and said, “Sorry, everything can’t be perfect.” I have a video of the conversation. She told us to take it up with Priceline because she couldn’t process our requested refund. Priceline said they’d speak with the manager and call us with an update. The manager told them we’d stayed, but we never returned to the property. We booked another hotel through Priceline instead. On 06/02/2026, after checking out of the hotel we actually stayed at, we returned to ask the motel to tell Priceline the truth. Assistant Manager Shamoi said the desk attendant had told him we stayed. I asked him to check the cameras since we never came back. He checked, then said it didn’t matter because we signed the paperwork and agreed to the nonrefundable fee. When I asked him to tell Priceline we hadn’t stayed so they could refund us, he said he couldn’t because it was nonrefundable. I asked for the actual manager, and Shamoi said he’d call the authorities to escort us off because the manager was in a meeting. We waited, then called the police ourselves. After an hour waiting for them, we left to enjoy the rest of our mini vacation. I’ll never book here again. While we were speaking with management, another guest who was staying there came in and said she was about to pass out from dehydration. There are no ice machines or water fountains, and honestly, nobody wants to drink the tub water. They need to accommodate guests better, especially someone like me who brought an ice pack for an injured foot and couldn’t even ice it in that falsely advertised, janky room. It’s also strange that Shamoi threatened to call the cops on us while people were dealing drugs in the parking lot, which I saw while waiting for an answer and for the police. He didn’t call the cops about that, only about me wanting to speak to the real management after our bad experience.

Booked online at 2 a.m. and had already paid, but they couldn’t give me a room because their system wasn’t working, apparently on two old, rusty 9th-generation iPads. The employee they called a spokesperson seemed so poorly trained I think the hiring manager should be reprimanded for considering him. I asked for a manager or at least a business card, and was told that was “against policy” because it was “confidential.” The service was ironic enough, but the employee, Jemell, also said he didn’t know how to contact the manager. If you’re deciding between driving tired on the highway or going to this hotel, keep driving. Whatever happens, I GUARANTEE it’ll be a better decision. Staying here has about the same chance of being worth it as a snowball lasting in July.

I booked for four nights, but the room had mold under the sink, a filthy microwave, and a bathroom door falling apart. The entry door had been kicked in at the bottom, leaving a gap where air came through. On my second night, someone tried to rob me and break in. They had a knife and tools to pry the door open. You should never feel your life is in danger at a place like this. If you can sleep in your car, a tent, or behind a dumpster, anywhere would be better. If you have kids, run far away.
