Monadnock Inn

The pub wasn’t open during our visit, and I hope it opens again soon. Better lighting and overflow parking out back would also be helpful. Still, we’ve now stayed at the inn twice, first in 2022 and again last night, and the new owners have made improvements. The massage chair was a great surprise, and their cats were adorable and friendly around the property. Rochelle, the housekeeper, was wonderful. We’ll be back.

I came to Peterborogj for a wedding and found this hotel just right. The room was great and well priced, and the family running it brought lots of charm and character. I appreciated the full coffee bar, plus all the tables and comfy chairs for reading, lounging, or getting some work done. I’ll definitely return.

For the price and location, the Monadnock Inn is a great way to stay somewhere with old-fashioned character. It’s a clean, welcoming older inn that suits the area without trying to be pretentious. The new owners are warm and friendly.

We were in the area for my cousin’s wedding over Columbus/Indigenous People’s Day weekend, and the whole wedding party stayed at the inn for two nights. If you’re hosting a local wedding, it could work well as lodging for your group. There’s no full kitchen or meal service yet, but that’s in the works, and the owners were happy to let the wedding party have breakfast in the dining area. They even brought out a toaster, microwave, and mini fridge for cold items. The Clerkin family treated my family and friends with a kind of hospitality that’s rare in big corporate places. We felt like family, and they were gracious with us. My girlfriend and I had the Sally Room, with a grand four poster bed and a little step ladder fit for a princess and her prince. Four windows brought in lovely natural light and a gentle cross breeze when there wasn’t a Nor’easter blowing. There’s no TV in this room, though other rooms have one. That gave us a chance to relax and reconnect between wedding activities. The old house has a quaint, cozy feel and plenty of character, even with the signs of age. The Monadnock Inn is still changing under its new owners, who bought the property from an outside investor in 2024. They’re putting a lot of work into Jaffrey’s only remaining hotel. With continued TLC, this family-run business can keep growing. Best of luck with the improvements and success ahead.
