The Jay Village Inn

After a long day skiing, relaxing by the fire with one of their amazing drinks was lovely. The waitresses and bartenders were kind, friendly, and accommodating, and breakfast was great. We also liked the mozzarella sticks. The food portions at the restaurant are huge, though the flavor could use some work: the Vermont cheddar burger we tried was plain and dry. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and there’s a hot tub and sauna to use in winter. Jay Village Inn is a great place to stay when visiting Jay’s Peak. We’d definitely recommend it.

We only found the restaurant because someone we chatted with on the ski lift recommended it. Glad we took their advice. The waiter was terrific, knew the menu inside out, and checked on us regularly. The food was fabulous too. The large salad was enormous, served in a family-sized bowl, and the dressing was great. The cheese pizza was more gourmet than a straightforward mozzarella pizza, which surprised the people who ordered it. I loved the leftovers cold the next day. 11/10, would recommend. Keep on keepin’ on, all y’all!

The food was just okay flavor-wise, though the portions were generous enough that nobody would leave hungry. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive, and the inn had the expected charm of a classic New England place. I didn’t stay here, just stopped in for dinner, so this is only about the restaurant. It was a worthwhile stop for a comfortable, low-key meal with local vibes.

I used to love this place, so I didn’t mind paying for the most expensive steak on the menu. I’ve come to expect excellence here. But I asked for it rare and it came out medium well at best. When I raised the issue, I was told twice that I was wrong. My friend had the same kind of steak cooked medium, and theirs was redder. They brought me half a replacement steak, which was much better and cooked well, but charged me full price for the meal. I could hardly believe it. Jay village inn has sadly dropped off. Half a steak? Crazy.
