Meadowbrook Motor Lodge

I left after about 15 minutes because I felt so uncomfortable I didn't even want to sit on the bed. The old blue blanket had around ten cigarette burn holes, and the bed squeaked badly. It smelled musty when we walked in, and the carpet looked like it had been there for about 20 years. The whole place reminded me of a dingy, run-down motel, and I was seriously worried about bed bugs. Definitely never coming back.

The hotel looked a bit run down, but my room was great. It was clean, and the bed was springy and firm, so I was comfortable and had a good stay. It's an economical place, not the Ritz, and you can't expect every five-star amenity. I really have nothing bad to say.

Two of the men who work here are really nice, and I've booked here often. But during my last few stays I had problems, and when I brought them up politely, even saying they weren't a big deal but might matter to other guests, I was rudely told I didn't have to stay. Cold shower water and being given a different room from the one I paid for seem like things any motel should address. I know I don't have to stay, but because of my situation I don't have a choice. I just want to be treated like a paying customer, not as if my stay is free. The senior staff don't seem to care about room conditions and only want the money. I won't be back, and wouldn't recommend staying here if you can avoid it.

I had no complaints. I was close to work and didn't want to drive all the way back to Brooklyn, so I paid $81 for about eight hours. The area was very quiet, and I got plenty of sleep before my evening shift. The room had an aquatic theme, with mirrors on the ceiling and on the wall behind the bed. Parking was ample, and the front desk staff were helpful and nice. The bed and linen were fresh, and the shower got nice and hot. There was no shampoo, but I bring my own toiletries. They provided little bars of soap, two towels, and a small towel. I'll come back when I don't feel like driving back to Brooklyn. It's hard to find a good cheap hotel these days.
