Breakfast was a real highlight. There were a decent number of choices, and everything tasted so good, fresh, and homemade, with good ingredients. Our room was clean and comfortable, and I liked the five bathroom products and the pretty good shower pressure. The staff were lovely at check-in, and the lobby felt clean, quiet, and welcoming. The only downside was hearing kids running in the hallway around midnight. I know that wasn’t the hotel’s fault, and we still had a great stay. I don’t post reviews often, but this place surprised me in a good way.
On our third stay, manager Jay (if that's his real name) insisted we were booked for a king room, though there were four of us, two adults and two kids, and we needed two queens. He said a double room was available for $190 extra, then offered it for $100 more, even after saying the hotel didn’t set the price. I’d stayed the previous weekend in a double for $134, the same amount as the king they were offering. He claimed the price difference was because it was the weekend, then said I hadn’t stayed there the previous weekend and had only been in January. I showed him the reservation and price for that one night. He still offered the double for another $100 and never admitted he was wrong about my reservation, even when I pointed it out. I came to town for a track meet over three weekends in January and February, stayed here three times, and found the staff unhelpful. I won’t give them my business again. I’ve never known a Holiday Inn to charge almost $300 a night in the middle of a dump of a neighborhood. The rooms were dusty, the floors hadn’t been cleaned, and there was mold around the tub. The sink was clogged and took more than five minutes to drain.
Isa at check-in and Kalyan at checkout were both courteous and welcoming. They were polite, humble, and respectful throughout. The staff were really good, so I’d recommend this hotel to families staying here. I was there on Feb 27.
Free parking was a big plus for our family, and the hotel was comfortable and affordable. We had a hassle-free stay at Holiday Inn Express Jersey City North Hoboken with the kids. It felt clean, safe, and family-friendly, with quiet rooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast was included, with hot and cold choices, and there was free Wi-Fi throughout, a fitness center, and a front desk open around the clock. The desk staff were patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. There are gas stations and convenience stores nearby for last-minute needs. The location worked well for sightseeing: close enough to NYC, but away from its noise and rush. Driving made getting to NYC easy; if you rely on public transportation, check how far the bus or train stop is on foot, especially in winter. We’d happily stay with family again.
I had four nights booked, Monday through Friday, and was charged the full room price on Wednesday, with two nights still to go. The day before, they’d also put a $100 hold on my credit card for incidentals. When I asked what that covered, they said it was in case I broke something. Total BS. I’ve traveled weekly for more than 30 years and have never seen anything like it. There was a lobby argument between another customer and the clerk over the same issue. This hotel is shady, and I wouldn’t stay there. The room’s blinds and sink stopper were broken, and the little table was so off level that anything on it slid onto the floor.
