Construction is the biggest problem here, along with losing the view. There are dozens of contractors coming and going every day, and the disruption makes daily life unpleasant. They’re renovating the lobby and every apartment over the next several years, but we weren’t told about this before moving in. The view can be great if you have one, though many apartments are losing theirs because two very large buildings are going up next door. The elevators are another issue. Management touts the new controls, but each elevator still needs extensive renovation and will be out of service individually for months. That’s hard enough while construction crews are also using them. The common room looks nice on a tour, but working there is difficult because it’s loud and there are only 10 spots for a building with 600 apartments. It’s hard to feel at home when staff keep changing and are left in the dark about future plans. Even the best staff say much of it is beyond their control, while building management lies about what’s coming. Also check the lease carefully: paying on the 6th means a late fee of 10% of rent, and going month to month adds a 20% surcharge. Outrageous. I do love the view, but the windows aren’t modern and heat escapes quickly. Expect monthly heating and air conditioning bills of $200-$300. The cleaning is overdone at 9 AM, with so many people mopping and vacuuming that they get in the way just as residents are leaving for work. And notice how the positive reviews mention staff members by name? I believe they’re comping staff to cover up the bad reviews. I could go on.

Please avoid this building. The elevators have gone down over 100 times during my brief 6-8 months living here. After a trip today, I had to carry 100 lbs of luggage up almost 20 flights because they were completely out. There was also a fire in my unit caused by faulty wiring. Management took over 3 months of emails to get it inspected, and the electrician found an ongoing hidden fire hazard. I later learned this had happened in multiple apartments. I believe moving here puts your life at risk. I’m drafting a demand letter and plan to follow up with legal action. I’d read the bad reviews and asked management about them, but they told me lies to get me to sign. Don’t be taken in by their promises. They’re actively trying to remove bad reviews. As an extra, my girlfriend was helping with the bags and had to use the stairs because the elevator was broken. The stairs were covered in pee, and she slipped and hurt herself. Please don’t move here. Avoid it at all costs.

The leasing office may be good at selling the building, but the reality is very different. I moved in last year after seeing older reviews about construction and assumed it was a one-time problem that would be fixed. I was wrong. For the rent, having to climb 26 floors almost every other week because the elevators are down is ridiculous. It’s been happening for months. The construction is old. Renovations haven’t sealed the apartments, and they’re always cold in winter. Ask around the building and you’ll hear that everyone’s electricity bills are in the $500-$700 range. The other low reviews are genuine. Stay away.

My kitchen sink backed up dirty dishwater after the drain clogged, and for two days after I submitted a maintenance request, no one tried to contact me or fix it. I went looking for the guys at the concierge twice and got nowhere. The maintenance office voicemail was full, so I was out of ideas and thought this might be the only way to reach someone at Liberty Towers. A few hours after I posted, they sent a plumber who fixed it. I’ve changed my rating from one star to three.

Construction is constant as Veris tries to compete with the high rises going up next door. The elevators are often down, and the wait times can be absurd because construction crews use them so much. One night a resident taking their dog out found a homeless person living in the stairwell, after using the stairs because the elevators were out. The maintenance team is fantastic and very kind, especially Randy. I feel bad that they probably get the anger from residents, while corporate staff do little to address concerns. Still, don’t move here.
