Western Motel

A solid budget motel for a short stay. I felt safe, and the front desk was kind. For the price, the room was decent, though it was old, the blankets had stains, and I did spot a roach. The water was hot, and both the AC and fridge worked. You get what you pay for!! 👍🏻

We arrived to find shirtless men hanging out on the upper walkway, smoking pot. Staff spoke with them, but when we went into our requested non-smoking room, it smelled strongly of smoke. We got moved to a second room, where the air conditioning didn't work. The third room smelled bad too, so staff went in and sprayed a strong air freshener. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

For $45 to $65, this is one of my top rated places to stay. It's basic, clean, and practical. The real key worked, unlike those hit or miss cards, and the towels were thick. Staff were smiling and accommodating. Sure, it's older: the paint shows its age, the chair fabric is faded, and there are even a spot or two. But there were no bugs, the shower controls were straightforward, the AC was good, the lighting was good, and the outlets were easy to reach. You spend almost 50% of the time in a room in the dark, so who really cares about the paint, chair, or rug? I sleep just as well here as in a more expensive hotel. Heck, I'm afraid to sleep in an expensive hotel because I feel like I'm wasting money when I close my eyes. I'd recommend it to people outside the Ritz crowd who just want a decent bed, hot shower, good towels, and no creepy crawlies.

Staff were very friendly. Housekeeping was working on a room and gladly showed me one that was finished. They're working to upgrade the whole place, with freshly painted walkways and new furnishings and carpets in the rooms. I'm picky about cleanliness, but felt comfortable staying here, especially for the price. They have truck parking, and it's quiet and safe. It's well worth the money, and I'd gladly stay again.
