OYO Hotel Jewett TX Southwest, I-45

The room's smoke alarm was broken, and I felt there was no privacy or safety: the inside extra lock could also be reached from the outside of the door. The AC was rigged so guests couldn't set their own temperature, and the desk clerk acted as if the problem was entirely new. It wasn't working properly. The place didn't feel fully secure and gave me the impression of a hotel where people conduct bad business. The baseboards throughout the room were torn up, as if it had flooded. Families, be careful. I believe a health inspector and code compliance should inspect every room. Don't waste your time, and if you do stay, bring sanitizing supplies.

The traffic kept me awake all night, the bed was hard as a rock, and the TV didn't work. There was no phone in the room and nobody in the office. This was the worst hotel stay of my life. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I spent 30 days in Dallas County jail, and that was much more comfortable and preferable in every way.

The water in the room was so dirty smelling, mixed with bleach, that it gave me a headache. The odor burned my nose and lungs and made me nauseated. There was a hole in the tub, a corroded shower head, and rusty shower curtain hooks, so I couldn't use the shower. The place was nasty, and the front desk staff were rude, though they eventually got us into a room. We'd been under a mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Laura and first called to reserve at a sister OYO hotel. When I called back to check on amenities, I learned they'd booked the wrong night. I searched again and booked this hotel, only to find on arrival that it was double booked.

We only needed one night while passing through, and other hotels were booked because of the flea market in town. I felt like I paid far too much for this room, which seemed like the sort rented by the hour. The bathroom exhaust fan was hanging down by its wires, the baseboards throughout the room were torn up as if it had flooded, and there was no landline. Someone had written phone numbers above the door, like an invitation to call for a good time. I have photos but couldn't post them. I'm never staying again.
