Nassau Inn

It’s easy to explore from here, with Princeton University and lots of nice cafes within walking distance. The building is older, but my room was very clean. A few things caught me off guard. The door didn’t seem to lock itself from inside after I used the card, so I worried I might forget to lock it. I was there two nights. The bed was made each day, but the shampoo and conditioner weren’t replenished. There was no fridge or slippers either, so bring your own hair products if you have medium or long hair, or pick some up nearby. The hairdryer was weak, and I couldn’t work out how to drain the tub. Hot water took a while to come through, but it was properly hot once it did, even in the cold winter. The women at the front desk didn’t seem especially welcoming and didn’t greet me. Maybe that’s just their usual manner, but it didn’t feel very friendly. A handy base for visiting Princeton, as long as you come prepared with your own amenities.

We couldn’t sleep because noisy work with a car was going on outside the hotel, and staff put us in the room right above it without warning us about the power work. When I went to the desk to ask for a different room, several other people were already waiting to switch. They moved us, but the staff’s attitude was really cold, and they charged me twice for two rooms without telling me in advance. This was easily the worst experience I’ve ever had. Don’t stay here unless you want a disappointment to spoil your time in Princeton.

My husband and I had such a good time at Nassau Inn. The suite felt welcoming, with attractive, comfortable furnishings, and the staff were as pleasant and helpful as could be. We’re looking forward to coming back. Thank you, Betty and Len Loscalzo.

Nassau Inn is an elegant, classy place to stay in Princeton. It’s a beautiful colonial hotel right in the center of town, listed on the register of historic places for its iconic location, and it still has its original beauty. The helpful staff and amenities are great, including the restaurant, bar, fireplace, and daily coffee.
