We got a good rate compared with other hotels nearby, and the staff were friendly. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed two nights. We didn't try the free breakfast or use the pool, though it looked nice. The one drawback was the shower storage. There was just a tiny shelf for soap, so our shampoo, conditioner, and other things had to sit on the shower floor.

We left as soon as we saw the room and drove 30 miles to find somewhere clean to sleep. We ended up paying $150 at Tru by Hilton because staying here wasn't an option. We had paid $90 for a room at the Sleep Inn, but it reeked of cat urine under a heavy layer of air freshener. The carpet was visibly filthy, and it looked like years of dirt had built up. The sheets had hair all over them, and the pillowcases were stained and dirty. It was humid and stuffy, with no AC running, so the urine and chemical smell just hung in the air. It felt like a damp, dirty box someone had tried to cover up with fragrance. Charging guests for a room in that condition is ridiculous. A room with that smell, filthy carpet, and dirty bedding should never be rented out. Save your money and don't stay here. You could end up wasting it and sleeping in a biohazard.

We were in town for a memorial in Pipestem but couldn't find a place near our family, so we chose Sleep Inn & Suites, where we'd stayed before and had found it decent. This visit was a major disappointment for $134.10 a night. The hotel is run-down and needs substantial maintenance. At check-in, my husband was told the elevators were out and there were no first-floor rooms. We should have been told when we booked. The second-floor ice machine was broken, the soda machine was empty, the microwave and refrigerator/freezer were dirty, and the shampoo bottle in the shower was empty. The large Sleep Inn sign that should be visible from the highway was lying in the front yard. The bathroom was small but acceptable, while paint was peeling from the walls and breakfast was mediocre at best. I'd spend a little more and stay somewhere else.

I had to go back to WV for a family emergency and drove straight into an ice and snow blizzard. I was lucky to be able to return to Sleep Inn, where the weather kept me for ten more days. The staff made sure I was comfortable and went above and beyond. Missy even helped me with shopping, and I'm especially grateful to her. Thanks as well to Eddie, Jake, Carol, Joe, and Sacorra for all the help. They were kind and professional, and a real asset to Sleep Inn. I'd already been there for seven nights during Thanksgiving week and couldn't have been happier with the room or the helpful staff. I'll definitely stay again.

The staff were amazing throughout my 20 weeks here for work, accommodating requests and giving very good service. There are plenty of food options around, so you'll never go hungry. Still, I'd spend the extra money on a nicer hotel if I did this again. I chose this place to save on my work per diem, but management needs to take better care of it so the staff have a decent place to work. There are serious problems. The internet wasn't secure, had download speeds of 10 mg's, and once went out for seven weeks straight. Hot water was scarce unless you were the only person showering in the building, especially on floors above the first. The shower pressure was a trickle, and even with hot water I felt cold. The elevators stopped working 15 weeks ago and don't seem likely to be fixed soon. The washer and dryer have never worked, and they're full of dirt, sand, and mold. Cats and dogs roam outside asking for food. Once I found fleas in a room; they moved me, but staff told me in the morning that the repair ticket was never filed, so the fleas may still be there. Keep hotel keys away from electronics like phones, cars, tablets, or truck keys, or they may stop working and need replacing at the front desk. Visitors and non-residents use the parking lot for recreation and calls, which doesn't feel safe. Residents and visitors also block accessible and other parking with trailers or sideways parked vehicles, despite multiple complaints. Breakfast is a joke: cereal, waffles, and sometimes fruit if you're lucky. The milk was expired and waffles were the only hot item. The gym isn't much better, one machine works, and it's not one you'd want to use. There are no weights. If saving money matters more than internet, hot water, working elevators, and stairs are fine with you, and you don't mind stray cats, this may suit you.
