Budget 8 Motel John Day

The room was so run down that $105 after tax felt like a lot. The furniture should have been replaced years ago, repairs were sloppy, and I couldn’t tell whether the area around the tub was mold or just worn away. There was someone else’s hair in the freshly made bed. They do allow cats and dogs. The neighborhood also had a very strong mildew and cat pee smell from the juniper, though that wasn’t the hotel’s fault.

Dan was really hospitable, and I slept great. It was clean and quiet. The Budget Eight Motel isn’t fancy, but for the price it was great. Go ahead and book.

The outside looked a little worn, but inside our room was pleasant, comfortable, and spacious. The staff were very sweet and accommodating, and I’d stay there again if I’m in the area. We’d taken a family day trip to John Day Fossil Beds National Monument and needed somewhere affordable to spend the night before heading home. That’s why we booked here.

The owner or manager was very, very nice, and the price was good. I’d stay again. My room was clean and I slept well, though the bed was firm. The bathroom was good, with excellent water pressure. The furniture is old and worn, and the TV sat crooked on the wall. There wasn’t anything on the walls to make the place feel cute or welcoming. It looks like someone is trying to fix it up, but the paint on the doorknobs was smudged and the lines were uneven.
