Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta North/Johns Creek

After checking in on 2/27, I found more than 20 ladybugs in the room. The front desk moved me, but the next room had some ladybugs too, though fewer, and the toilet was broken. When I requested another change, a different staff member was rude and said it would be the last one because other guests were checking in. It was after 11 p.m. She said the doors stay open 24/7 so they can’t stop ladybugs from coming in, and that the insects aren’t harmful. Whether they’re harmful or not, I expect a hotel room to be clean, free of insects, and have working facilities. It’s especially disappointing given the HGI Promise: “Our goal is to make your stay better and brighter. If something isn't just the way you like it, simply let any hotel team member know, and we'll make it right. Guaranteed.” Very disappointing, and I won’t stay here again.

The room was quiet, though the HVAC wall unit made a bit of noise, about as much as units in other hotels I’ve stayed at. It’s a modern, clean property in a good spot in north Atlanta, and the front desk staff were great. We’ll definitely stay there again.

The food was delicious. I’d recommend the cheeseburger with fries and the chicken wings. The cook served us when the bar was supposed to open at 4:00, but the bartender was late, so beer and wine were all we could get. I tried to check in at 2:55 and was told there’d be a $25 charge, so I waited until 3. The TV didn’t work until I called maintenance. He eventually got it going, but even at full volume it was very quiet, so we turned on CC and called it a night. The bed pillows definitely need attention. In the morning I couldn’t shower because there was hair in the shower.

The staff have mostly been friendly, patient, helpful, and accommodating, but the hotel itself has been a mess. We’ve been moved through four rooms, and each one had a problem. We couldn’t get into the first room. The front desk tried replacing the key card twice, then said the door lock battery might be broken. In the second, the toilet tank leaked and it kept flushing through the night. The third had such weak shower pressure that I spent 30 minutes trying to rinse off the suds. The attached photo says it all. In the fourth, live TV channels didn’t work. It turned out to be an issue in every room, and they had to refresh the system. It’s Christmas, so nobody has been around all week to fix things. The staff did try to help us find a room without problems, but it seems every room here has something wrong. Each time we moved, we wondered what would fail next. Don’t book this Hilton. The Hampton Inn & Suites next door costs more, but it’s basically the newer, improved, unbroken version of this hotel.
