The staff are great, which is why I gave four stars. The rooms are so-so, closer to three stars, but okay for the price. Beds and furniture were clean, and the TV and remote were nice and clean. There’s a fridge in the room, but no microwave or USB ports, so be prepared. The microwave is downstairs in the lobby. My door was troublesome, like the one in another review’s pictures. You have to pull it hard and check that it locks when you leave. Sorry, neighbors, I had to slam mine to get it shut.

The staff were friendly, and we understand some of the problems may have been out of their control. Still, our stay was so disappointing we considered changing hotels on the first night. The rooms were clean and had the necessary amenities, but they didn’t look like the photos online or feel like what we expected. We also didn’t feel comfortable trusting the free breakfast or asking for housekeeping. Getting to our sixth-floor room was a mess. Both elevators were out of order, and the front desk gave us directions to them anyway. A note: the last elevator inspection was 10/2024 and expired 10/2025. Other guests helped us find a staircase, but the sixth-floor door was locked. We tried the other staircase across the hotel, and that floor door was locked too. We ended up taking the service elevator without permission. When we told the desk how difficult it was to reach our room, we heard, “oh yeah I forgot about that,” and were told to keep using the service elevator, which meant walking through staff hallways.

Dani at the front desk was attentive, sweet, and helped us with everything. Dani worked hard throughout our stay and made us feel at home and at ease during a rough time. The bartender in the restaurant was amazing too, and made great drinks. Thank you, Dani. We’d been on a New Year’s Eve and Day trip to Gatlinburg, TN, and were heading home to Marin, N.C. when our car broke down on James H. Qullien Parkway, TN. It was cold, and my elderly mother, grandparents, and two small dogs were with me. My grandmother needs oxygen, so we needed help. The wrecker and State Trooper brought us to the Holiday Inn in Johnson City, TN.

We haven’t tried the pool yet, but I used the computer and printer on the first floor this morning, and a staff member got the printer working properly. There’s plenty of parking, and dogs are welcome. We walk around the property once or twice a day and enjoy the birds. It’s a very large chain hotel in a central part of the city. Breakfast is a $13.99 buffet, and it’s open in the morning when the facility has enough guests.

Izzy at the front desk was really helpful. She deserves a raise and promotion right away. The rooms could use an upgrade, though. The air was running from the time I checked in, and even with the switch set to auto, it wouldn’t turn off after I asked maintenance to adjust it. I can only imagine the utility bill. I had just a USB phone charger, but there wasn’t a USB outlet anywhere in the room. It’s 2025, keep up with the tech.
