The staff are amazing, and the restaurant and sitting area have been upgraded and look desirable. But the location, room quality, and exterior of the building aren’t great. The property photos show a hot tub, but there isn’t one. It’s been filled with concrete and replaced by a table and chairs, which isn’t kid friendly. There’s only a pool. And there’s no continental breakfast, even though it says there is.

I spent a weekend here with my family. It’s a three-star hotel with a pool, free WiFi, on-site dining, room service, and spacious rooms with plenty of options. The staff were friendly and attentive, and service was quick and professional. Very good.

The snack bar's health rating was 87.5, and I won't eat somewhere below 95. The building feels decades out of date, with dim public spaces, low ceilings, peeling wallpaper, and old veneer doors stained by water at the bottom. Even the bathroom sink sits unusually low, like the 30-inch standard from the 1980s. Outside, missing mortar shows that maintenance has slipped, and the windows are still single pane in 2026. The tiny elevators make it hard to get a luggage cart inside. The whole place needs major work. Given how much business Duke Hospital across the street might bring, a new Garden Inn or Home2 Suites would make more sense. Honestly, the corridors remind me of The Shining, and the hotel feels like a trip back to the 1970s.

The room itself was spacious, clean, and really comfortable, and the food tasted good. But I wouldn't choose this hotel again. I was there for two nights during an ice storm because I work across the street at Duke Raleigh Hospital. A strong floral scent was pumped through the ventilation, and I could smell it in the lobby, hallways, and room. My nose eventually adjusted to the smell, but my sinuses swelled shut and my nose ran both nights. It was miserable and debilitating, even though I'm not usually sensitive to perfume. If scents bother you, you may suffer all night. Hilton, there's no reason to pump this into guest rooms. If I have to return, I'll ask for a fragrance-free room, and if they don't have one, I'd sleep on a cot at the hospital. Restaurant service was painfully slow too. With only about three tables occupied, they still brought us another table's food, then we waited around 30 minutes for the check. I just wanted dinner and bed, but ended up waiting ages.

The ceiling in our room was coming apart, the wallpaper was peeling, and the TV didn't work. We called maintenance about the ceiling, but nobody ever came. My family and I were there for one night while some kind of comic-con event was going on. There were lots of bare rear ends walking around all day, and people slept in the lobby. Later, my sister and I were relaxing on the lobby couches when the manager, Tamika, sent security to tell us to leave if we wanted to “lay” there. We'd just watched someone sleep on another couch for hours. It was an unpleasant stay, and I wouldn't come back.
