Traditions Hotel & Spa Johnson City - Binghamton, an Ascend Collection Hotel

My only complaint is that we could stay just one night. Transition Hotel and Spa in Johnson City has a serene, refined feel, with classic sophistication and comfortable touches throughout. Its beautifully preserved historic building has old-world charm, graceful details, rich character, and warmth that modern hotels can’t replicate. There’s a real sense of history, but it feels timeless rather than dated. The atmosphere makes it a lovely escape from the ordinary.

We booked Traditions at the last minute, since it was the only place with queen beds at a fairly reasonable price. The campus has a great atmosphere and feels like a throwback to a more glorious time. They’ve refurbished it well while keeping its rustic charm. Walking in feels like an upscale B&B, with the long staircase and vaulted ceilings. It’s a rare gem for anyone who likes a place with character. Breakfast was amazing, or at least real, with real bacon and eggs. Our room was a little small, but clean and comfortable. I’d stay again if I were in the area, and could see coming back just to relax, walk the grounds, or read in the beautiful colonial-style sitting rooms. I’d like to try the restaurant next time.

The setting was beautiful, and the tent with its patio was great for our class reunion. We had a top-notch weekend. The staff were terrific, the food and breakfast were really good, and our room was nice. I loved the spa and hair salon, too. Golf could've been better, but the weather wasn't something they could control. I'd stay here anytime we're in the area.

The golf-course setting is lovely, and breakfast was very nice, with a beautiful presentation. Our room was small, with just one chair, and there was no mini fridge or microwave. I picked this place because it had a restaurant, but it was closed Monday, when we were there, as well as Sunday. With nowhere nearby and a long day on the road behind us, we ended up eating snacks I'd packed. I'd come back, but I'd check the restaurant's days off first.
