Clarion Hotel & Convention Center Joliet

We stayed over a busy holiday weekend, when occupancy was higher, but the staff handled the pressure well. Housekeeping stayed consistent and service didn’t drop much.

The area is nice, with plenty of food options, and you’re about an hour from Chicago. I was on the third floor, which I’d heard was one of the better floors, but I also spent a lot of time in four friends’ rooms on the first and second floors, and those were lovely too. The bad reviews had me worried, but they weren’t true. Well, except for the bathroom ceiling leak. Water built up about an inch deep and kept coming until the person upstairs stopped showering. Apart from that, it was a great experience.

Breakfast was very limited and not good, and our room, especially the bathroom, wasn’t clean. The hotel’s location also made us uneasy right away. The night we arrived, a man got inside, watched porn on the hotel computer, and the police were called. I didn’t feel safe during the stay. People wandered the hallways, and once a man hid behind a wall and watched me walk to the ice machine. The gym added to that worry: it’s tucked away down a cold, unheated hallway, and the door isn’t see-through, so nobody would know if someone went in while you were there. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay here again. It was an uncomfortable, disappointing stay, and I’d advise others to avoid it.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The online description didn’t match what I found, and customer service was poor. When I reported at check-in that the light wasn’t working right, nobody seemed to care or even said they’d send someone. The WiFi didn’t work either. Their usual response was that I was the first person to complain, with no offer to look into it or see what they could do. I hope the owners make changes.
