Fairfield Inn & Suites Joliet North/Plainfield

Beth at the front desk really brings this smaller hotel together. One night the dryer had a problem, and she let me use the hotel’s industrial dryer and refunded what I’d already put into the other one. She’s friendly, chatty, and always in a good mood. She’s also the only one who bakes cookies to leave at the desk for guests. Give her a promotion! The rooms are clean, the amenities are significant, maid service is top quality, and the front desk is helpful. For a small side hotel, it offers a wonderful stay and great value, with outstanding customer service.

I stayed here on December 2, and about half an hour after checking in I found a large stink bug above the bed where the wall meets the ceiling. I called the desk to ask for someone from engineering to remove it, but was told nobody from engineering was on site. My only option was to go to the desk, get a key to another room, and move all my belongings. As a solo senior traveler, that was a real inconvenience, but I had no other choice. I later called the property. Nobody answered the first time, so I tried again and spoke to Amanda, the general manager. Her curt, uncaring response was, “yeah, I heard about the bug.” She offered a $20 discount, which felt more insulting than what had already happened. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member and contacted them, but I’ve concluded there’ll never be a resolution. I feel they assume I’ll get tired of pursuing this if they let it drag on. That won’t happen. I stay in the area often for work, but I’ve changed hotels and am very happy I did. Fairfield didn’t care, and Marriott Bonvoy didn’t care. The moral is to stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Joliet, where bugs in your room only cost $125 a night.

Amanda, the manager, made sure everything was right. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond, so I felt valued as a guest. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the welcoming atmosphere was there as soon as I arrived. We had an excellent stay and, thanks to Amanda and the team, I’ll definitely be back.

The staff were all amazing and came to check whether we needed anything. Amanda was especially sweet. We arrived a little early, and she welcomed us with a smile and helped get everything ready for our rooms. Our room was spacious, beautiful, and clean. I’m so happy with it.
