The staff were at least nice, but the stay was rough. The place smelled musty and of weed and cigarettes, despite being advertised as smoke-free. We had to call for someone to bring key cards, then waited five minutes for anyone to reach the desk. Our room was on the third floor, with no elevator, even though we'd paid a fair price. The pillows were hard, and I woke several times overnight. Breakfast didn't offer much. Some guests seemed to talk to themselves with their doors left ajar, and we had to ask for towels and toilet paper. Our key card also stopped working once, so we walked down and back up three flights after it was fixed.

The room itself was nice, the breakfast decent, and the morning staff were wonderful. But there was shouting and a fight in the room next to ours around midnight, and it sounded like a domestic violence situation. I called the front desk several times and kept hearing that they were handling it. Around 2 a.m. I got the same response, along with a claim that there'd been no noise when staff went up. We didn't get another room until 3 a.m., when my partner went down to ask for one so we could finally rest. I never saw any consequences for whoever was causing the disturbance. I wish the hotel had handled it better.

We got in at 9:30 p.m. to check in, and the night person seemed annoyed by my questions. When I reached the room at about 2:20, the fire alarm was dangling from the ceiling by its wires. There was old food in the microwave, stains on the pillowcases, and the room smelled like weed as soon as I walked in. The next morning, breakfast for my children and me was just cereal and toast. My child spilled a little cereal, so I asked her to clean up her small mess. When she moved the trash can by the counter, the man started yelling at her. I didn't feel like raising the other issues that late with two toddlers in tow, but this wasn't worth what I paid.

The check-in was smooth, and the gentleman who helped me was very helpful. The room seemed fine until I showered: the tub was cracked, didn't drain properly, and leaked water onto the floor. On October 6, 2025, at 5:35 a.m., I went to sit in the breakfast room and take care of something on my phone while my partner slept. A desk worker told me he needed to clean the room and asked me to leave. I moved to a lobby chair, but he then told me I couldn't sit there either and should go back to my room. I asked if I could wait there until the breakfast room opened, and he said no. Both areas were clean. I left, then came back to find things much the same, except the breakfast food had been set out. I thought the way he treated me was rude and wrong, and told him I'd report it.

At night, the parking lot seems to be a hub for what looks like drug dealing, drug use, and hooker activity. Some people also seem to live at the hotel and hang around outside, repeatedly driving off and coming back. I wouldn't expect a good night's sleep or much peace of mind here. The location has a lot going for it, just off Interstate 55 and beside Louis Joliet Mall, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. But the hotel needs a thorough cleaning. Hall carpets, doors, and other busy areas need a lot of attention, and the rooms were only OK. This Super 8 has potential, but the cleaning needs more care.
