Wingate by Wyndham Jonesboro/Hodge

I’m a Wyndham Rewards member and stay at a lot of Wyndham hotels for work, so I was surprised by this one. The bed was kind of hard, but the pillows and covers were great, and the room itself was okay. The bathroom dragged it down. The first room had a dirty toilet and something under the sink that I couldn’t identify, so I went downstairs for another room without any trouble. That toilet was dirty too, along with several other things. The shower wasn’t clean, there was mold and soap scum on the glass doors, the mirror was dirty, and the wall had an awful patch job. The bathroom was in pretty sad shape. There were two coffee cups but no coffee pot or ice bucket. I asked the front desk lady and she said they had them, but didn’t keep them in the rooms unless a guest asked. That seemed very odd. I was disappointed to find this at a Wyndham hotel.

This place has really gone downhill. It’s dirty, and I’ve got pictures to show it. Maybe they’re badly understaffed, or maybe they just don’t care. Hotels are limited in this town, so another one could open and do very well.

The internet is awful, the TVs don’t work right, and there are spiders everywhere. Water just sits in the shower instead of draining. When you raise a problem, they say it isn’t their problem. This hotel is a dump. I don’t recommend it.

The rooms themselves didn’t smell, the beds were comfortable, and the beds and pillows were clean. The bed skirts were a bit dirty, and the body wash dispenser in the shower hadn’t been refilled. There was no bar soap either, but we asked at the desk and got some. We never made it to breakfast. I wish it ran until 10 on weekends, though I know the usual hours are 6 to 9:30. We’ve stayed here several times, back when it was called the Sleep inn, and the rooms were the same. The bad part was the sour smell when you came in, and an even worse funky odor in the elevator and hallways. I don’t know what it was. We tried spraying room spray in the elevator, but it didn’t help. Hopefully the smell in the hall, elevator, and entrance is gone next time. We’ll be back.
