Americas Best Value Inn The Legends Inn

We got in from a hot day and took a dip in the pool, then slept really cool and comfortably. The room was clean, and the location was just right. My wife and I would come back on our next visit.

I booked through expedia, and the owners were kind and welcoming at check-in. But when I entered the room, I saw live baby roaches crawling on the floor and one on the wall behind the door. There was also a dead cricket on the floor at the foot of the bed. I know the area has cricket problems, but these were definitely roaches to me. I went to the front desk and explained that I couldn’t stay with bugs crawling around. They said they were crickets, though I told them I knew the difference. They offered another room and mentioned that an exterminator came once a month. By then, I felt there must be a serious bug problem, and I wasn’t comfortable staying. They said I’d need to contact Expedia for a refund, and Expedia got one for me. I checked in up the road at the best western for $30 more. The rooms were much more updated. I saw crickets outside there too, but no roaches in the room.

Getting here from I-10 wasn’t convenient. The room itself was okay, though the toilet was hard to flush and the toilet paper holder was missing. The shower curtain wouldn’t stay open, so water got all over the floor. Breakfast was a joke.

There was hair in both the bathtub and sink, and the TV kept giving me trouble. I also struggled to connect to the Wi-Fi. Outside, the trash was overflowing and smelled bad. Even though the room was supposed to be non-smoking, it smelled like smoke. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
