Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Lugoff

My semi broke down, so my company booked and paid for a night with a company card. The reader showed approved, but the front desk guy said it had been declined and asked me to swipe again. I felt he was lying so he could get extra payment for the room. The hotel was horrible. The one upside was the Waffle House next door. Stay away from this place.

The basics were all covered: clean room, comfortable bed, and it stayed quiet after 10 pm. The AC could go down to 65, and they had Cartoon Network.

I booked online at 1/8/26 at 0150 am for 1/8/26 and went straight to the hotel. It was 2 am on the same date my booking started, which was later supposed to begin at 3 pm. The front desk clerk kept saying they hadn't received my money. I'd never had that happen at another hotel. I was horribly sick after driving eight hours and was freezing outside in the early morning while she made me wait for an hour. I said to refund me so I could sleep in my car, and she finally gave me a key. Later, they called the room, yelling that I had to pay for the reservation and an extra day for checking in early. The woman never mentioned an extra charge when she gave me the key. No other hotel charges extra for early check-in. I told the man to refund me and I'd leave, then they acted like they would work it out with the booking site. They never did. They kept harassing me every day, at work and in the room, demanding more money. They eventually admitted they had been paid, but then told me I was due to leave a day early, kept knocking and calling, and demanded payment again when I went to leave the next day. I ran out of towels and toilet paper, but they kept banging on my door about money and checkout, so I had no toilet paper to use. They watched me and waited for me to return so they could bother me on the hotel phone. I swear they went through my things after I left. I left the room spotless and took photos and video before and after, including of the room and phone conversations, because of how they behaved. They still kept my $50 deposit and changed it to $46. They said the deposit was $50 by card and $100 in cash. Why the difference? Is it easier to pocket cash? I want my deposit back, and I'll report them to the better business bureau. Scammers and liars, they got the booking money but had the front desk clerk say they hadn't. I'd never had an issue like this at another hotel. I checked in early, and she let me in after keeping me standing there while she said they hadn't received the online payment. Then he screamed at me that I had to pay and had to pay an extra day for early check-in. They said they'd work it out with the booking site, but kept harassing me the whole time. I was already horribly sick, and they harassed me while I was there and at work. Now they have the nerve to keep my deposit and change it to a few dollars less, like I wouldn't notice. I took pictures of everything as proof.

The staff were terrible, and the rooms were nasty. The woman with the mustache at the front desk was the worst part of an absolutely horrific stay. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
