Sun Valley Motel

We arrived late, and the motel arranged key pickup using a code. There was plenty of free parking in a safe area, making this a good place to break up a long drive. The rooms had microwaves and fridges, though only one of the two rooms we booked had a freezer. There was hanging space, the bathroom floor was very well kept, and the toilet was in good shape. Our shower was a tub with a cloth curtain. Heating and cooling worked well, as did the WiFi. Breakfast was very limited continental food, with waffles as the only hot option. Junction, Texas worked well as an intermediate stop for our trip.

Several of us were in town for work, but she wouldn't offer any kind of group discount. The rooms were very clean, though not especially comfortable. There weren't any vending machines, and the advertised free breakfast didn't happen, so I was hungry all day. The reviews had me expecting something exceptional, and I left disappointed. It's okay, but I didn't like it enough to give it five stars.

I've stayed at Sun Valley Motel twice now. It's right in the middle of town, close to everything, and the owners clearly take pride in keeping the property clean and well maintained. They're friendly and helpful with requests, and the rooms are nice, comfortable, and clean, with modern bathroom furnishings. I was there in June and didn't use the pool, though another family seemed to enjoy it. I highly recommend staying here.

The family-owned motel has some history and character, and they stayed up late to make sure we could check in, which we really appreciated. It's an older place that's been renovated, and the price was amazing. Our room compared well with many hotels that cost twice as much, and breakfast was included. If you're after a large chain, this isn't the place for you; for great value in a small town, I'd definitely recommend it.
