This was our third visit, and it reinforced our feeling that the resort doesn't justify its premium price. The concept is appealing, but they don't seem to have enough staff to deliver what guests pay for. We had to wait to check in and at the restaurant and bar, go to the office ourselves to get room supplies, and deal with hot tubs that didn't work. For better value, stay in town.

The restaurant was totally fine, and we had two nice meals there, dinner and breakfast. The setting is beautiful in the mountains, but the resort fell short on a couple of basics. We booked a double queen room for a weekend ski trip with my daughter. We thought we'd love Double Eagle and might have liked it more in a cabin. The room was clean, adequate, and heated well through the cold June Lake weekend. But the boiler shared by at least four units couldn't meet the hot water demand, so we had no hot shower after skiing. The maintenance guy confirmed they know the heaters can't keep up. At the premium price, we still expect hot water. The pool and hot tub were also a huge letdown. The water chemistry seemed clearly off and needed shock treatment. The smell alone should have kept me out, but my excited daughter got in before I could stop her. I wouldn't let her use the hot tub because of the smell and lack of clarity.

We felt welcome right away, thanks to the genuinely friendly staff. The property is beautiful, with mountain views all around and waterfalls on site that make it feel calm and restful. June Mountain is about a seven-minute drive for skiing, and downtown June Lake is roughly ten minutes away. We had an amazing stay at Double Eagle Resort and Spa, and it exceeded our expectations. We'll be back.

The spa was so good that after booking a massage with Vanessa on Saturday, I booked a facial with her the next day. The spot on June lakes loop is stunning, and we had a great time. We stayed in a large cabin, though the rooms are modest and nothing fancy. Food at the lodge was mostly great, but skip the vegetable curry, it's not their forte.

The local discount made a day visit a really good deal, under 40 dollars for access to the pool, fitness center, jacuzzi, whirlpool, steam room, showers, lockers, and all the styling needs to get ready for the day. I love the steam room and Jacuzzi. I didn't work out this time, though I usually do, since they have tons of equipment. It's a beautiful place to stay or just visit for the day, and the spa was awesome.
