I used to have good stays at June Lake Motel, which made this visit such a disappointment. While we were on the way, I found out on social media that all of June Lake had lost power. The motel staff never contacted me about it. I had my kids and dog with me, and I depend on an electric medical device overnight, so staying without power wasn't an option. A quick call or email could have let me make other plans before driving all that way. Instead, I had to scramble for somewhere at the last minute and book a room in Mammoth, where the power was on. It cost extra, added a lot of stress, and threw our trip off completely. The motel offered no partial refund or other option, and didn't acknowledge the inconvenience or safety concern. They could have rented the room to younger guests or someone willing to stay without power, but I was left to handle the situation myself. I know they couldn't control a town-wide outage. They could have communicated and considered how it affected their guests, and they fell short on both. After this, I can't recommend June Lake Motel unless they improve communication and take more responsibility in situations like this.

Our room had a king bed and lots of space, and it was cozy with plenty of hot water. The motel was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the people were nice. There was a coffee pot, oven, and toaster, plus a store right next door that came in handy. We cooked the best New York steak from there and visited a nearby hot spring. Beautiful!

The place used to seem better kept when we stayed before. This time, the shower curtain was moldy, there was dried chicken in the microwave, and the wall clock was stuck at 1:30. The TV was about the size of an iPad, which was a joke. The beds were just okay, one very soft and the other moderately firm. The so-called upgraded kitchen and bathroom lights were stark white motion sensors. They were awful if you moved around at night and didn't want to wake anyone. I covered them with towels so they wouldn't switch on, but then when I needed them, they wouldn't stay on. The rustic retro look felt neglected and outdated. Next time, I'll definitely consider the quaint cabins across the street.

The rooms are large, with full kitchens, and the bed was clean and comfortable. There's a general store right next door, and June lake mountain is under a five-minute drive away.

I really liked my stay here. The room felt surprisingly nice, with a cozy, rustic mountain vibe. It's a cute little place.
