The views from both balconies are stunning, and the setting keeps you away from downtown crowds and noise. But there's little within walking distance. After this adequate stay, I'd consider other lodging next time I visit June Lake. In Cabin #1, the back balcony railing leans 20-30 degrees when you press on it. There's a sign telling people to keep off, but it seems easy to imagine a child playing there and falling through. The front balcony looks recently rebuilt and feels stable, though its steps and railings are bare, unfinished lumber. Wood stain would help. The refrigerator was a mess: milk in the front had spoiled because it wasn't cold enough, while raspberries at the back were frozen solid. During our late July trip, the cabin got very warm in the daytime. Opening both doors improved the airflow, but the front door has no screen and the mosquitoes were really bad. It left us choosing between an uncomfortable temperature and swatting bugs indoors.
