The staff were friendly, and good customer service matters to me. We weren’t sure about booking because we’d never stayed here, but it was in a good spot for what we needed. Our first room smelled like someone had been smoking. We went straight back to the desk, and she moved us to another room without a question. The second room was more like a suite, and daily cleaning was done. It had a full kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, a coffee pot, and microwave, which meant we didn’t have to eat out every meal. But the couch was so stained that we put an extra blanket over it, and the carpet was dirty enough that we went back to the store for slippers. The hotel could use renovations. It might be a big expense, but they could do a little at a time. With that work, it could be a great hotel. For me, it’s about the people.

The room was outdated but charming and clean, and being in a corner meant we got an extra window. The full kitchen and coffee maker were awesome and convenient, almost worth the price by themselves. WiFi was good, the location convenient, and although we rented a car, the shuttle looked great and we saw several people using it. We stayed a couple of nights for an event, and it worked out really well. Getting to our room meant walking through and around two buildings via a couple of sky bridges, which was quirky but neat. The front desk person gave us a spot on map and directions, and she was very friendly even though we checked in late. Noise carried pretty well. There was a snowstorm, and the person plowing the lot was on the job from 4 AM. Great for our vehicles, but loud. We could also hear kids running and laughing upstairs. A cable TV movie each night helped us fall asleep. We’d stay again!

A great price for Juneau, and they’re accommodating to local mine workers. The staff are great, and the nicer rooms are in the main building. The B wing has some funny and shady characters. I hope a new restaurant opens with full bar service.

Some of my friends in Juneau say this is a good hotel, and I think it’s a decent place to stay for a while. The restaurant closed for good, even though it had good food, and it sounds like health violations may have been involved. Friends say they enjoyed the hotdogs, which they thought were the tastiest they’d ever had. Maybe Frontier Suits could consider bringing in a sports bar, food truck, or another restaurant for burgers, steaks, pizza, or other good cooking. That could attract customers and give guests and people in Juneau something they’d like. Just throwing out an idea for them to discuss. The parking lot needs new pavement too. The bumpy areas need work so vehicles don’t have to deal with them, and people will keep driving in. Even before spring or summer, they should think about fixing it. Anyway, based on what my friends have said, it’s a good hotel.

It’s inexpensive, and you can tell. The rooms look like the 80s and need renovation. Bring slippers for walking around in the room.
