The Juneau Hotel is a solid home base if you want more room and a kitchen without paying the very top of Juneau's hotel prices. Rates here can still feel steep, but for this market it is on the more budget-friendly side, and the hotel compares well with other options. The rooms are spacious and clean, with large full kitchens that are especially useful on a longer stay. A third-floor room has higher ceilings, which makes it feel even more open. Staff were consistently friendly and efficient. There isn't food or drink service on site, though restaurants and bars are within walking distance. The gym is minimal, and ice and vending machines are on the first floor. Downtown is about a mile away, with a pleasant waterside walk on a clear day. The hotel is beside the main intersection for the Douglas Island bridge, so a bridge-facing room gets traffic noise. Parking off the street is very limited. There's a free airport shuttle, but arrange it with the front desk ahead of time. It's no luxury showpiece, but the clean, roomy setup works well for guests who want a kitchen and some elbow room.

The first room had a heater stuck on, so we had to move. The rooms are dated, but clean and spacious, and reception was welcoming and pleasant. It's a homey hotel in a good spot, not too far from town. I'd stay again.

The room was clean, and I'd happily stay there again. I was there in winter, around Christmas, when there wasn't much happening in town, but the hotel was open and is a beautiful historic place. The sidewalks on the nearby main road were snowed over in December, though still walkable in good shoes. A shout-out to the evening front desk woman working 12/23. I can't remember her name, but she was very kind and accommodating when my flight was delayed the next day.

The owner replied to this review three months later, which says a lot about the quality of their work. During my stay, the bathroom sink was full of standing water and unusable because the drain wouldn't open. I told the reception employee several times and got repeated “thanks for letting us know” responses, but nobody fixed it. If something needs maintenance, apparently you're left to deal with it yourself. Juneau has plenty of hotels for a town its size, so there's no reason to put up with one this disrespectful and inattentive to basic facilities.

Whenever Jeremy is picking up, the service is great. He's a wonderful, incredibly friendly guy who brought me happiness in some dark times. I hope he gets all the joy, whimsy, and love he deserves.
