La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Jupiter

We left because the room was filthy and we were worried about bed bugs, then got charged $308 for the first night. At check-in they told us to inspect the room upstairs, so we carefully checked the sheets, mattress pads, shower, furniture, and everything else. When we called to check out and ask for a refund, they said a full refund was only available if we called within 20 minutes. We had taken 45 minutes. The manager admitted that nobody had told us about the policy, but still insisted they would have refunded us if we’d called sooner. It felt like a scam, taking money from people who were trying to get away from the filth.

The hotel itself was fine for our short visit with family. The staff were friendly, breakfast was good, and the room was okay for a place we knew wasn’t a five-star hotel. What has stayed with me is what I saw in the lobby: a large man came through with a small person whose whole body was covered in layers of clothing, with only their eyes visible. I couldn’t tell if the person was a child or a woman. The man had them by the arm, and they seemed drugged or unwell. It happened quickly, and they went straight into the elevator. We reported it to the authorities. I would never stay there again, especially with my child. This was about three days ago and I still can’t stop thinking about it. After looking into it, it seems trafficking may be common at La Quinta and Wyndham hotels. Stay safe.

The service was the worst part. I needed forms for work travel, and the manager, Laquisha, wouldn’t provide what I needed even though I gave her the proper paperwork that other hotels have accepted. The rooms and hallways were dingy and very dated, the sheets were stained, and breakfast wasn’t good. Absolutely awful. Don’t stay here.

The lobby had a horrible, overpowering smell as soon as we walked in. If you’re sensitive to smells or have allergies, that’s a problem. The rooms looked and smelled nasty, and the hotel itself is old and outdated. There’s only one slow elevator for a place this size. Staff were rude to both of us, and more than one person spoke to us that way. It is pet friendly, but there’s no grassy area for pets. The location was convenient for where I needed to be, but if this were my only option again, I’d rather sleep uncomfortably in my truck.
