Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Molokai, Maui & Lanai Towers

We loved having easy walking access to Whalers Village and nearby places, plus plenty of chairs on the lawn for the beach and sunbathing. The multiple pools also gave everyone options during the day. Our accommodations were comfortable and well maintained for our family trip, and the amenities were excellent. Staff were consistently friendly, and check-in and checkout were seamless. From beginning to end, our stay at Marriott Maui Ocean Club was smooth and enjoyable. It was a great mix of comfort, service, and location. We'd gladly return and recommend it to anyone visiting Maui.

We loved starting the day with Kiara's morning water aerobics at the pool. Her workout is energizing and really effective, and her passion shows even though she teaches several classes a day. We've had other instructors over the years, but she's easily the best we've experienced. Our one-bedroom suite in Napili Tower overlooked the pool and ocean, with a beautiful view of Lāna'i across the water. The tropical grounds are immaculately manicured and feel serene and welcoming as soon as you arrive. This is a wonderful place to experience paradise.

It was our second visit and our first time in the Napili building. The mountain view was a nice one. Our king bed was comfortable, the pillows were full, and the decor had been updated. The full kitchen was missing quite a few things compared with other MVC locations, but housekeeping brought them over right away. High trade winds knocked out the power. The backup generator came on the first day, but the next outage lasted 22 hours in the resort areas of Lahaina. We used the emergency flashlight to see in the room, then went to other parts of Maui that had power.

I paid several thousand dollars expecting a true 4-star Marriott stay, but this property felt like a run-down motel with decent pools. The room smelled strongly of mold and had rotting wood throughout, as shown in my photos. Although the website said it was recently remodeled, the tile, cabinets, and general condition looked like they were from the 1980s. I asked for a refund or a transfer to another Marriott property and was willing to pay extra. The staff were no help. They told me it couldn't be done because “this isn't really a Marriott hotel, it's a timeshare.” It apparently didn't matter that I'm a Bonvoy Gold Elite member or that I booked directly through Marriott.com. This was incredibly disappointing. Given the room's condition and the poor customer service, I'd strongly recommend skipping this property, and maybe all of Marriott.
