As a timeshare owner, it's great to know this is how we're treated. The view was nice, but it's Hawaii. They don't offer anything you can't find elsewhere, though you can get 10% off at a certain shaved ice stand. The AC turns off every time someone steps onto the balcony and has to be switched back on after coming inside. That happened for morning coffee, sunset photos, and dinner, so if one person goes out and another stays in, the AC is still off. Staff also had to enter our room unexpectedly while we were away because of a leak from the unit above us. The rooms are dated and dirty, with rust in the kitchen and stains on the bedsheets. There was a note telling us to put all food, including chips, fruit, bread, and cereal, in the refrigerator. We wondered if there was a roach problem and called the front desk to ask. They said they just thought storing all food in the fridge was a good idea, without explaining further. A few days later, we got a notice saying someone would spray for pests between 9 and 12 and to hide our valuables. It would've been good to hear about the treatment when we checked in or when we called about the food. It was clearly scheduled before we arrived. Then the next day we found ants in the bedroom, where there was no food, crawling on my phone and charger. The front desk called at 8 am the day after we landed from a full day of travel to pitch the timeshare, but the pest spraying came as a taped note on the door. One of our party waited for maintenance. They arrived at 12:30, after the stated time window, and when asked about it, said, “oh well, this is when we are here.”
The place is beautifully kept, with lovely greenery, and the staff are friendly. We enjoyed waking up to the ocean view from our huge balcony terrace. The room has a minimally equipped kitchen with a fridge and dishwasher, and washer and dryer access. Bring your own laundry detergent, as you might need more than what's there. There's a swimming pool, water coolers, tennis courts, and a cafe. Room service isn't available, so consider how you'll manage cleaning during a longer stay. Checkout is at 10 am, which may feel early, and they weren't flexible about extending it when we had morning reservations. Keep that in mind while planning activities.
We're enjoying our stay. The place is clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Our two-bedroom ocean-view room on the sixth floor has a great balcony view. It's a little dated, though I understand a remodel is coming.
The location works if you like being in the city, with shops and the market on Alii drive just minutes away. The pools and tennis/pickleball court are clean and well kept, and there were a few fun things for the kids during the week. The service was okay. We asked to change the bedding, but after 2 pm they could only get us a blanket and bed cover. We spent almost all our waking time out of the room because it wasn't great. The rooms aren't spectacular, very outdated and patched together. There's touch-up paint over corrosion on almost every appliance, and the coffee maker's heating element was rusted right through. This should have been updated 15-18 years ago. There was mold on the master bathroom tile grout and under some slapped-on paint in the corner. The pools have great views, but rooms that aren't owner rooms don't get much of an ocean view, at least ours didn't.
The staff were nice, but the salesman was a little pushy and I wouldn't recommend this place. It's overpriced and lacking. The room didn't match what their site portrays and didn't feel homey. There's no restaurant, bar, or gift shop, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the view was poor, and the bathroom reminded me of a jail. Wyndham really needs to remodel. Even the bedroom fan didn't work. We paid for a one-bedroom deluxe and got an uncomfortable twin bed.
