Kalamazoo Hotel

I called customer service to fix the charge after leaving. They said they would have to reach the hotel desk to issue a refund. Three tries, and no one at the hotel answered. Corporate then told me it could take up to a week before I heard about the credit to my card. The parking lot and hotel both smelled strongly of marijuana when we arrived. The front desk was empty, and after a wait a young man came out from the back. He looked at us but didn't speak until I said we needed to check in. He said there were no rooms, even after I explained three times that I had a confirmed reservation. He said it didn't matter until I checked in, but there were no rooms. He went to check the computer in back without taking my name or confirmation details. We left. Five minutes later, I got an email saying the reservation had been cancelled and I had to pay. How could he cancel it without my name? Don't make a reservation here.

There were people hanging around in the lot, which gave me a bad feeling. I was nervous about the expensive cargo on my trailer. We arrived at 5 PM, and staff still had to check whether the room was ready. There were things left in the fridge and debris on the floor. No hot water for a shower, and though breakfast was meant to start at 6, there was nothing. We had to leave by 7.

I felt so insecure I even checked for bed bugs. The parking lot had sketchy people, there was no breakfast, and the first room they gave me didn't have a toilet. The woman checking me in had to check that the next room was clean. She wore no name tag or uniform. It was terrible and disappointing. I'm a Wyndham member, but I don't think I'll stay at one again. Stay clear.

The shower took 40 minutes to get warm. When we returned from dinner, our key didn't work. The attendant asked for the room number and made a new key without asking our names or checking ID. Anyone could have gotten into our room in the middle of the night. At checkout the attendant seemed so high she could barely keep her eyes open. She clicked the computer mouse, went into the back office, and didn't say anything. I waited five minutes, then called out to ask if she needed anything else. She said, “nah.” Walking to my vehicle through the pitch-black lot with my hands full, I stepped on walnuts and fell on my side, ruining my dress pants and shirt. I went back inside, but Ms. High as a Kite didn't seem to care. I'll call the BBB when it opens. Do not stay here. The photos online are an absolute lie. Maybe this was a nice place ten years ago, but not now. There are non-smoking signs everywhere, yet it smells of pot and cheap perfume used to cover it up.
