Fairmont Orchid Gold Experience

It’s a lovely, very clean resort in a beautiful part of the Big Island, and a great value. I’ve stayed here before and plan to keep returning. The rooms are large and comfortable, the service is good, and there’s a shuttle around the area. The property is beautiful, though Mauna Lani is nicer. I’d give it four stars, not five. The beds are comfortable, but not at the level of a five-star bed, or even a Westin bed. A room refresh meant the furniture was replaced, not a renovation. The rooms and marble bathrooms are in decent shape and, as mentioned, very clean. Also, there are no hospitality rooms if you want to shower after check-out.

The canoe outing was a highlight. Kanoa and Elijah explained everything clearly and made it fun and comfortable. We also had such a good stay at the Fairmont Orchid. The hotel is well maintained and the staff are friendly throughout. Malia was especially kind, helping us with chairs and towels each day and chatting with us. Mahalo for a great experience. I can’t wait to return!

The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the views were amazing. Our room was nice, with the best mattress I can remember sleeping on in a hotel. Between the dining and cocktail options, it was hard to find a reason to leave. Everything about the stay felt worth what we paid.

The price isn’t a bargain, but it’s about what you’d expect from a five-star Hawaiian resort. I’ve stayed at plenty of nice places, including the Ritz and Four Seaons, and this one ranks right up there. I liked it more than the Grand Wailea on Maui, especially for the much better food and the magical lagoon beach, where we saw turtles. There are petroglyphs a short walk away, and a free shuttle goes around the greater Mani Lani resort.
