AKA Central Park

This was our second stay, and we're sure to come back. The location is great, with everything we needed within walking distance. The staff were wonderful and left me a small gift for the marathon. Elvis, Carlos and Geovanny made things easy by arranging our airport ride and giving us great service.

Housekeeping were the nicest and most helpful people there, but they couldn't make up for the rest of the stay. The hotel has a great location and charming decor, yet the staff felt detached, even if they were technically correct. Breakfast was disappointing: the small selection wasn't replenished much, croissants and bagels disappeared quickly, and the only cheese came without vegetables. Loud, unpleasant music from the kitchen carried into the dining area. One of the two elevators, shared by guests and staff, broke down and was still out of service after more than five days, so the waits were awful. When we asked the manager for something to help with our luggage, they flatly refused. The door to our room was comically short, leaving a 3-4cm (about 1-1.5 inches) gap at the bottom so we heard everything in the hallway. The manager could use a refresher on basic hospitality. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

At this price, the room and services were below par. The old coffee machine had no filter, and there wasn't even a starter amount of coffee for one use. No body cream, cotton pads, or Q-tips either. Room service came once a week, regardless of when you arrived. The gym was adequate and the laundry facilities were a plus for a longer stay. I wanted to try this chain for a future extended stay in NYC or elsewhere, but I can't see myself staying long term. I'm even wondering whether I can get out of the week I've booked. I was disappointed, and another guest I met said they felt underwhelmed too.

The location was great and the price was good, but the shower was almost always cool. In five nights, it was hot just one morning, even though we asked them countless times to fix it. If your room has no hot water, ask for another one!
